Well, a week that started badly, has turned out to be pretty special indeed. Little DD has stopped being sick at school :j We are delighted and so relieved - she seems to be too.
Thank God, I feel like a crisis has been averted.
Also, I found out that I'm to receive a windfall. This has come totally out of the blue and honestly feels like all my birthdays and Christmases have come at once. It will be enough to pay off all my debts - I honestly can't believe it and am still in shockBut I am *ecstatic* as I thought this day would never come.
I put my faith in the Universe and I guess it took notice....:)
Please for you on both counts. The problem with DD was affecting your home life, but unexpected money is really good.:T:TDebts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Thanks Gill. The money is amazing and beyond my wildest dreams, that's for sure.
But I'm happier that little DD is getting through her fears. She - like many kids her age - has very sensitive hearing (though weirdly, not when she's screaming her head off ). I think the noise of the dining hall, added to having to eat in it, made her stomach churn which led to the sickness.
I'm prepared for another episode, but am pleased that she seems to be on the right side of it. Plus, she's talked about gymnastics all week and double, triple checked that she is going tomorrow.

Once all the debt is paid (still feels like I'm dreaming when I say that), I'm going to use some of the money to make an overpayment on the mortgage. We already have some savings, that we would only touch in an emergency, but it would be nice to add to that too, if funds stretch that far.
Then, when I don't have to repay debt every month, I'm going to build some savings for everyday things, car insurance, maintenance, holidays etc.... We do need some furniture for the house, but I've learned the hard way not to put it on the never-never. If I do buy anything on 0%, it will be paid off in full before I buy anything else.0 -
Great news on the windfall - it does take a while to sink in, we had a sum of money paid to us back in September that cleared the debt and gave us enough left over to put in a proper grown up savings account for proper grown up people. Whilst it was fantastic to clear everything in one go it left us feeling a little bewildered and odd....our focus for so long had been the debt and "boom" there it was gone.....it's taken a good few weeks to get our heads around it but it's just about sunk in now.
Fingers crossed your DD will love gymnastics again tomorrow. :T"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Ooh I want one of these windfalls  I'll try asking the universe
What lovely news for you and I'm pleased things have setttled with DD thats a relief0 -
Hi Pooky, thanks for your kind words - yep "bewildered" is the word. These things just don't happen to me - or so I thought
Thanks KM, I sent DH the link you posted last week. It was very helpful and good of you to find it. I guess her personality is a bit too big for her to handle sometimes and it takes time for us to work out what to do for the best. But I'm glad we did what we did. She seems much more relaxed, so let's hope it continues....0 -

I really wanted to have a busy weekend getting things done in the house this weekend. As it is, I'm lying in bed with only enough energy to type or read. I feel rotten
it's not the flu, but worse than a cold - so half way between the two. I would have said it was flu, but then I got the real thing about 10 years ago - for 2 weeks, horrid. Thankfully, I don't feel that bad.
So, I'll listen to my body, stay in bed, not think about the mess downstairs and all the jobs I should be doing, they will still be there in a few days. Today I will rest (and cancel my rare night out tonight - Waaaah!)
Have a good day all x0 -
Hi mac, congrats on the windfall. :j:j

You poor thing! Your light's off at the mo, so hopefully you're sleeping. Reading through this page again, it just struck me the way you described yourself as "bewildered" after paying off the debts - maybe your lurgy is partly about letting yourself *be* bewildered, and stop for a while and look around you? I get that a lot
and I do look around but then I forget to put it into practice when I get well again ...
Whatever it is, hope a slow weekend will help, but I'm sorry you had to miss your night out
Hugs. Slow, gentle hugs.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
