I generally say that I work in Retail Intelligence.

Only my closest family and friends know exactly what I do. The more people who know, the more difficult it becomes.

My elderly mother started telling people what I do, so she now thinks I put up posters and write reports!! In the old days, I could take her on mystery visits and she used to behave really well! I had to stop taking her because she would (very loudly) say things like, "Why are you buying that? You've already got two of those in the car." Briefs should not just specify, "no children," they should say, "no children or elderly relatives."

I dislike doing the RE-type jobs locally (the ones that need a store front photograph). It is difficult in a small market town, when I am likely to be seen by people who recognise me. I usually mumble something like, "I have just dropped my camera/phone and I'm just checking to make sure it still works." Auditing in local shops can also be difficult: it takes twice as long when I keep coming across people I know, and they want to know why I am wandering around with a camera and a clipboard.

    .

Tempted to ask what your day job is, if I was the gf, I would not be happy. :D

Slater's for the suit? Not sure it's upmarket enough tho?

Jackson the Tailor for a suit in Glasgow for me tbh (outside the usual "work" suit - naturally that would be a Burtons job!)
Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.

I did an assignment for a bank for them and was blocked at the entrance and asked if I needed help .The member of staff was very insistent so I had to tell her what I was going to do at the counter and so could not do the counter interaction.I did everything else though.I just received an email from GFK stating that I will not be paid as I did not do the counter bit and I can't find a telephone number to call them.I was in the bank for more than 20 mins and I am not happy about not being paid.Does anyone have a telephone number for them please?:(

What counter transaction were you going to do, and what happened to it?

I was going to get some change but as I was a non customer the person at the counter should have told me that I couldn't but the member of staff at the entrance insisted on knowing what I was in for and she answered my query.I wrote this on the report but then I got the email to say I was not going to get paid..........

My first job for RE in over 6 months is booked for this weekend, just received an "are you still doing this job?" email.

I now remember why I hate this outfit so much.

I was actually tempted to reply with "I was still going to do the job, but as you've wasted 2 minutes of my life that I'll never get back, I'm now not going to, so cancel it and shove it up your bottom", but I didn't as it's to one of my favourite places.

I would check your briefing notes, and if it says that one of the options for the counter transaction (as a NON customer) is to get change, then you need to email GfK and tell them. At the end of the day you could hardly challenge the mos who met you at the entrance without compromising the assignment.

Thanks guys for the suit advice. My client doesn't have a girlfriend, hence he has me. Dunno if I can tell you my company name, in case it counts as advertising? I'm a personal concierge - basically a freelance p.a and errand runner. This particular bloke is single, solvent and works 70 hour weeks.

Can I say the company? It's the sort of work that might sut some of you guys, so long as you don't live in Glasgow, of course!
