    I don't have a smartphone.

They must have my mobile number by mistake or are just texting en masse or ringing on spec.

I've checked into this outfit and they are an unprofessional scamming company only interested in you ringing a premium rate number if you want a loan.

This needs highlighting hence my post and username.

Stop calling them and do it now.

Is your number registered with TPS ?

You can also report nuisance phone calls, just google for how to do it.
  • I only ring the landline numbers not the premium rate ones.

TPS cannot stop endless daily text messages.

I merely posted the information to warn other people about this organisation.

I hope this clarifies my position.

    Thanks
  • They do it en masse by randomly generating number. Which is why it's generally not advised to confirm to them that your number is genuine.

Everyone tends to get them at some point but they normally drop off. I had daily 'had an accident at work?' texts for a couple of months last year but they've now stopped.

not correct in this case. The calls are generated from loan enquiries. They then push the applicant towards premium rate phone lines where they use delaying tactics to keep you on the phone costing plenty of money. (I have not done this but investigations have shown that this is the company's business model and practice.)

In my case I have never applied for a loan. They have my number by mistake clearly.

Maybe someone put my number by accident or maliciously.

All I know is that they wont leave me alone and when you ring them they fob you off and get aggressive.

They have been reported and fined in the past.

    Doesn't seem to stop them.

Hence warnings wherever possible so others know their practices.
  • I received a text from these people saying "Hi it's Emma from CFD. I have good news regarding your credit application please call me on (RANDOM NUMBER) to discuss. Text stop 2 stop."

So I phoned it and the bloke on the other end said your application has been approved so I said what application? And he said your credit application it may have been for a loan or for a credit card (I applied for a student credit card a few days ago but it was denied) so I assumed it was this but at first I didn't realise so I said "I haven't made any application" So he was very rude and kept saying "well what do you want me to do then" and I said well for starters I'd like to know the company I'm speaking to and what you want and he said to process your application and he then named the company I had previously made the application with and told me that this is who the credit card he was going to give to me would be with. He then went on to confirm my details and to ask what credit limit I wanted and then he put me on hold. As I was on hold I googled the company as it didn't seem right that they text me out of the blue and I found this page, safe to say I put the phone down immediately and after reading the comments on here I rang back up and said I want the application to be closed and for my details to be taken off the system and he said ok I have taken your details off so I put the phone down again. I then went back to the original message and replied with "stop" then when I've gone back into my text inbox the text has disappeared as though texting back "stop" erases it from your phone .... Very suspicious .. Hope nobody falls for this!

My goodness, how much did the call cost you?
Why on earth did you call a phone number you received from a spam text message?

    Hi all
For what it's worth if you are foolish enough to apply for a loan from C.F.D. (yep, I'm very dumb) and they keep you talking on the premium rate line they do refund your money as others have stated in this thread.
I got a cheque today from Horizon following a letter I sent to them with the itemised phone bill.
My letter was dated 5th November, so fairly quick response given today is the 15th.
In conclusion: the operation would seem to be verging on a premium rate phone scam - given that I spoke to them (10-15 minutes @ £1.50 per minute), gave them all my information and was told to call back in an hour for a decision on another premium rate line.
This I did, only to have someone try and take all the same information again!
It is definitely worth applying for a refund.
(By the way in case you were wondering the second call was terminated when the woman cut me off as she didn't like me asking why they were taking the same information again!)
    All the best
    Nigel

Have you considered reading this thread you have posted on at all?

Either scroll the wheel or slide your finger, it really doesn't get anymore complicated than that.

They couldn't be bothered to read 1 page of T&Cs do you really think they'll read the whole thread, it's 9 pages - that's like a whole book.
