  • I was given an 0906 number by this company the other day (monday I think) and came online to check them out before calling the number, as I, like many of you was very dubious of calling this. They sounded amazing on the phone, very straightforward and very efficient. After coming onto this site and reading the negative comments written I decided against calling them. I then recieved a call the day after saying 'You have been passed to our priority department there is a new number for you to call.' So I took this oppertunity to quiz the man I was speaking to and ask him about some of the problems quoted in this thread. I also checked what this guy was saying and it does all check out. They are based in Stockport, Manchester and they are under the bigger financial company Horizon (www. horizonfinance . co. uk) They are not going by any other name and they are not a 'franchise company.. working from home' obviously there is an office where the agents sit on the phone all day. They are registered with the office of fairtrading and phonepayplus I was assured, backed up with iso reference numbers and other information that if you ASK they WILL get for you. When I asked him about being called off a private number (ask I do not like answering to people I don't know) he wasn't aware that this was happening, he apologised and said there are no incoming calls allowed on the number anyway, which is fair enough. I decided to give it ago. I talked to a lovely lady who got me through the application quickly and efficiently even though there was alot to get down, she gave me another number to call back and the adress so I could reclaim all the money. Which is FREEPOST CFD, postcode (although not needed - I wanted to be sure) - SK1 1TA. I called back the second time thinking I might aswell see whats come through for me, was offered brilliant rates considering my circumstances and was contacted by the lenders the very next day. I would recommend this company to anyone, even if I don't recieve my money back (I have sent as instructed an itemised bill, highlighted and referenced and will let everyone know in five to seven working days whether I have recieved a cheque in the post) I feel that the service was definetely worth paying for and I shall hang on to my priorty number for a repeated service.
One final thing, in my view the premium rate number is there for them to make money. They do not charge any fees or request any money from the applicant therefore a forty pound charge for their services is NOTHING compared to YES! loans and other such.. companies. BUT they offer a refund.. which again is unlike any other company and also I genuinelly think I will recieve it.. I will let you know!!

I only bothered to read alice__x post as a challenge to myself, to see if I could wade through that illiterate chunk of text written by a 4 year old.

alice__x, Why don't you post that old tripe again in a couple of weeks when you receive nothing for your £40??

No doubt by that time you would have tried calling the person you have spoken to who has already told you will not accept incoming calls, add to that the freepost address seems to go nowhere, then the "lovely lady" will simply tell you to ring another number as she doesn't deal with refunds.

Simply put.... your post is a steaming pile of rotten :spam:

I’ve worked at the company for a few years now and unless I’m having one hell of a dream it’s definitely real. Like someone else pointed out it’s a big call centre near town.
Yea you do pay money to make the phone call, but we don’t take bank details or take money from your account. And what I don’t understand is if you don’t want to pay £1.50 per minute, then don’t make the phone call – no one is forcing you to!

And it’s not right that people are saying we say we guarantee them a loan – we are not allowed to say the ‘guarantee’ or imply that you will definitely get the loan. Because it’s £1.50 a minute we have to follow a script and if we deviate from it we can lose our jobs. And they know if you have said something you shouldn’t because they monitor all calls.

Before you say it, I’m not ‘spamming’ I was looking for something else on the site and came across this and I definitely don’t get a bonus (though that would be nice!).

what a load of s........ i have just had them call me and made the call back on the promise of it only costing me £1.50 per minute. I was most definitely promised a loan and most definitely told that £25 would cover the cost of the call. I topped up my mobile with £40 and it was swallowed up in less than 10 minutes!!! I didnt even get to make the second call to secure my loan.

this sort of scam makes my blood boil. and before you all start dissing me about being stoopid i am in a desperate situation on long term sick benefits with 0 credit rating in desperate need of a car. this seemed on the face of it a solution to my problems.

i think it is disgusting that this kind of thing is allowed to continue and the office of fair trading should be bombarded with emails, letters, and phone calls until they take action.

i could not afford to lose that £40 and will now not be able to eat for the next 6 days!!!! i have no chance of getting a refund. no chance of getting a loan. and no chance of replacing the money.

i hope everyone who works in your office sleeps well at night!

Sorry but the longer people persist with an excuse of "but I was desperate for a loan", these scam companies will flourish.

If you are on Long Term Sick, why do you need a car???

If you can drive, then you can work

If you are not working, How did you even consider you were going to make the repayments??
  • I too have just recieved a call from Cash Finance Direct, quoting a reference number asking me to call 09064001830. The man on the phone said I could reclaim the call charges of 1.50 per minute, in which makes me deeply suspicious. After doing a small amount of research, I found this web site, and other people here have similar suspicions. I applied for a 12 000 loan with Yes Loans, and since then I have had no end of calls from finance companies and debt management companies saying they are from government based organisations. I only wanted a loan to combine my 600 pound overdraft, a 3000 pound credit card with the remainder for college course fees. After my experiences, I advise people to contact the mainstream banks. I wish I did this now, a few months ago, my credit record was good to fair, in which is now poor. I advise people strugling for money to approach the National Debt line or take the exceptional advice from this web site; I will in the future.

Hi l am a disabled fulltime carer for my terminally ill mum in dundee have been conned by all these legitamate loan shark companies praying on people like me just trying to make ends meet.

Yes loans, money essentials infact money essentials took £54 from as a fee for finding a lender jenny the sales woman hounded me for over week to pay this fee i was then told that l would get my documents in 3 to 5 working days but that was lies l phoned ad phoned and phoned and phoned nothing then asked for a refund then told me they found me alender who only lend to somebody with a house etc and needed garantor loan.

this woman jenny told me my loans was approved it was lies as the loan was not approved she told me to sign send the docs back and l would have my £3000 in the bank by aweek nothing.

today i received an email they still have my £54 my disabled mum paid this on my behalf said they will are still searching will refund me in 6 months time, what a load of toss. So if thousands of people fall for their charms and lies and pay the fee they will be thousands in profit as if selling loans that are are not really there mis-selling on a grand scale.

  • Hi All

I have just been offered debt relief from Horizon Finance!. I was one of the few selected by the govt. to have their debts written off or reduced!. I believe this wonderful govt. want to help us like the banks!. So I enquired how we could proceed. The guy from 'India' said he would only need few more details from the one obtained from some other agencies to tell me if I qualify (despite the fact I work and pay off my mortgage and loans). I believe the govt do not want anyone to owe money anymore and willing to write off all our debts and so we can all live in a debt free world. However, 'cause I live in real world, I refused to give further details (damage limitation) and so my would be saviour has gone off for now.

I promised him though that next time he rings, he would be speaking to my wife who has done tel. sales and knows the score; and certainly he'll struggle to pass thru' her...that's not a thing worth trying as many have tried and removed us from their database!

Good luck to those who would take their offer and live free of debts forever. I wonder how free economy will survive at this rate!
  • Just thought I would let you all know of my experience from CFD/Horizon finance, as this thread has been most helpful/informative

Well my letter claiming a refund explains all, so read on..

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Re : Refund of call charges

I was contacted by your company (CFD) on June 23rd 2010 with regards to a loan application I made with another company, how you got my details is still a mystery. I gave (confirmed) all my details to your rep, at the end of the phone call I was told to phone 09064001806 in a couple of hours for a decision, which would be 98% yes, I queried the fact that it was a premium rate number @ £1.50 per minute and was told, if unsuccessful I would be entitled to a full refund and just to write to Freepost CFD. I phoned the number, after spending 15 full minutes giving the same details again !!, I was told to leave it for an hour and phone 09064001800, again I queried another premium rate number, and was told the same, If unsuccessful write to Freepost CFD for refund. With this in mind I phoned the second number only for someone to take my details again with no talk of interest rates/terms etc. I explained that I had done this twice already and that I didn’t see why I had to go through it again. At this point your rep got annoyed, started to raise their voice and question me so I ended the call.

I am on paperless billing with BT and have had to wait until now to get an itemised copy of my bill which I enclose the relevant section detailing the two calls. I am asking for full refund of the charges, totalling £37.73 as you were unable to help me for whatever reason. I found your full address on the internet after the Post office saying that Freepost CFD is not enough address details. I was again contacted in August and given a different premium number by another CFD rep who was unaware I had been contacted two months previously and that I had already done this, he too became annoyed when I asked questions, I decided not to phone the number this time for obvious reasons. To top it off I got a phone call later on that day to ask why I hadn’t phoned the premium number.

    I await your cheque

This letter was sent to both Freepost CFD & Horizon finance, using the address listed in this thread (thanks for that btw), on the 3rd September, I received a cheque for the full amount on the 10th September + a £10 M&S voucher for the 'inconvenience caused'

Apart from the obvious runaround I was given, they did what they said they would do in terms of a refund, and I am going desert shopping at M&S with the voucher, hmmmm chocolate & cream......

No I do not work for CFD, no I will not use the service again, and yes I will enjoy my £10 M&S voucher, thanks for reading :)

    Andy.
  • hi

just recieved a call from this company advising that i will be approved for a a credit card? however the guy kept saying the loan will be in my account tonight

i never asked for a loan ?? does the company even do credit cards
again the call was £1.50 per minute ...anyone think this is a con? as ive to call back in 25 mins
  • Received this phone call today, and thankfully I was sat in front of my computer when I did. I typed in cash finance direct into Google, found this, read the first post, and then asked the advisor if he was going to ask me to ring a premium rate number. He hung up. I think that says everything I need to know about this company!
  • i applied for a credit card from vanquish and sum how this company rang me instead of them. i received a call telling me to ring a 09 number to receive a credit card through the post in the next 48 hours. i was told the call is free of a bt landline or contract mobile. i rang the number and then found it was charging me £1.50 a minute after taking my details and a number of questions , i queried this free call and was told it is fully refundable if i send the bill off to a freepost address with no postcode. i was then told to ring again in 15minutes to see if i had been accepted for a credit card. i rang back again and was told i have been accepted. i was then told ill receive a text in couple days of potential lenders [what bu***hit].

i was misled several times and later had a bill for £80. they were charging over £2 a min and id been chargd for the calls they kept making to me and offering free life insurance. im very annoyed and seen alot of negative feedback and people not being refunded .

i have several addresses for them and if they dont refund my money, and to everyone else who hasent i advise you to contact watchdog website (alot of people have), trading standards and financial ombudsman.

god knows how they got my details there must be leaks in the real credit card companies.
