We were desperate and called the 090 phone number for Horizon Finance - they were unable to help us with a loan so I went ahead and sent copies of the itemised phone bill to the Freepost address helpfully posted on this thread (thank you) and lo and behold we go a cheque for the full amount of £40.85 in a fortnight. Now we may have just struck lucky, but I thought it might be helpful to let you all know that it's worth trying to get your telephone costs back.

Glad you got your money back. When I called them the address they gave me was Freepost, but when I handed it to the post office clerk (I thought something was up) they told me I needed a number to go along with it. Luckily I have found their "real" address and sent off my bill.

One thing I would say, remove any other numbers from your bill just in case they decide to call them! You don`t want your friends and family to be harassed by them after all.

I will update if I get my money back or not.

    Hi,
Out of circumstances i needed a quick loan of £500 so i contacted Cash Finance Direct, they assured me the loan would go through as soon as i called them on the 090 number. I did this then they asked me to call back on another 090 number. So yet again i called and all they did was say that there were two lenders interested who wanted to remain anonymous, when i tried to question what service they had actually given me the guy on the phone hung up!

I'm so annoyed, as Cash Finance Direct knew that i'm on a low income with children, it disgusts me.

Please do not use this company ever, learn by my costly mistake.

Looks like a few people have been caught out, I reckon we should all make a complaint to Trading Standards.

(but why have a premium number in the first place if you say you'll pay it back, surely thats a false economy)

Spot on. But I was desperate and had to call them, oh well I have requested my refund, we`ll see what happens.

I too have used Cash Finance Direct in the past . They were not able to get me a loan even though I never missed payments at all, I had too many 'footprints' on my file and that's why I turned to a broker in the first place. They will refund your money if you write in with your phone bill. I had a refund for the full cost of my phone call to them. If you are having trouble with them, which I did , report them to their premium number regulator http://www.icstis.org.uk/ Hope this helps and good luck with obtaining your refund.

    Thanks for the link

    Hey Guys!

Alright, so I got a phone call this morning at around 09:30am, and to my surprise I got a phone call from a lady named Chelsea, who assured me that I had been approved by some lenders and I just had to ring back this 0906 number to run through some quick details and I would have my loan in no time.

    SOUNDS GREAT DOESNT IT?????

Well...... being curious as I am, I thought I'd give this Chelsea a chance, and asked her if there were any other phone number I could call that wasnt premium rate to validate this call. Sure enough, she gve me the following number: 0871 7500500.

So here I goes, I ring this number, and I spoke to a gentlemen named Ben. Well, things seem good so far.... I decided to question the young man and ask for certain information, specifically their registration number with the FSA (Financial Services Authority) who are responsible for enforcing the law when it comes to companies who deal in financial services like loans, mortgages etc. etc.

Well, he confirmed to me they don't have a FSA registration number as they are the BROKERS and not the LENDERS, which means they work on behalf of the customer to attain a loan through "their" lenders for the customer. That's a fair comment, and totally legitimate.

He did seem to get a tad ariated when I was asking for all sorts of information which he duly provided to me, so this led me to believe that their are a lotta customers ringing this number up and enquiring about the use of a PREMIUM rate phone number to pay for the fees (which they also stated there were none).

Anywho, as the call progressed he thanked me for calling and enquiring about the use of premium rate numbers as a lot of customers just jump the gun and assume that this is not a legitimate company with bad intentions.

I have actually followed this up and have got the following information back:

    Horizon Finance
    www.horizon-finance.co.uk
    Customer Services: 0871 7 500 500

    Consumer Credit License #: 503842
    Company Registration #: 3173946

You can actually apply for the loan WITHOUT the use of a PREMIUM rate number using the online FREEPOST form, however one small call to the actual LENDER is needed in order to transfer the funds into your account.

    Customer Services Department
    FREEPOST
    HORIZON
    (no stamp needed)

    or alternatively

    FREEPOST
    CFD
    (no stamp needed)

So all in all, using google you can actually search this company on the internet and it turns out that they're COMPLETELY LEGITIMATE!!!

Now, I, like most of you reading this, am 100% genuine. I needed £5000 for a motorcycle (which I eventually got through Yes! Loans **only because they contacted me a week earlier than Cash Finance Direct (no other reason)**) .

So, as I've read in other responses in this thread, if you respond to this post by saying this is illegitimate and/or I'm probably working for the company, DO SOME RESEARCH. I've given you the details. So again, DO SOME BLOODY RESEARCH like I did myself. And stop degrading peoples responses because you're too bone idle to research this stuff yourself, and prefer to question the integrity of the information and/or source of such information instead.

Lastly, Horizon clearly state "if you are dissatisfied in anyway with the charges on your phone bill, PROVIDING YOU RANG THAT NUMBER FROM A BILLABLE PHONE LINE eg. your home phone line, or CONTRACT mobile.... you can apply for a full refund of these charges AFTER 5 WORKING DAYS".

To do this send a covering letter and a ORIGINAL copy of your phone bill to:

    FREEPOST
    CFD

    and again No Stamp Needed!

Well...... phew that was a lotta work. Infact, all that took me 15 minutes to find. So you guys who doubt Horizons intentions, do the same...... apply yourself.

I look for ward to all feedback from this response. Positive/Negative.

Good luck to all you loan seekers!
I hope you find Horizon and/or whichever company you use, a good choice!

    Many Thanks

Funny,w hen I tried to send a letter to

    FREEPOST
    CFD

The post office themselves said that is not enough and it would not get there!
  • I’ve worked at the company for a few years now and unless I’m having one hell of a dream it’s definitely real. Like someone else pointed out it’s a big call centre near town.
Yea you do pay money to make the phone call, but we don’t take bank details or take money from your account. And what I don’t understand is if you don’t want to pay £1.50 per minute, then don’t make the phone call – no one is forcing you to!

And it’s not right that people are saying we say we guarantee them a loan – we are not allowed to say the ‘guarantee’ or imply that you will definitely get the loan. Because it’s £1.50 a minute we have to follow a script and if we deviate from it we can lose our jobs. And they know if you have said something you shouldn’t because they monitor all calls.

Before you say it, I’m not ‘spamming’ I was looking for something else on the site and came across this and I definitely don’t get a bonus (though that would be nice!).

  • :money:Reader beware !!! I received a call out of the blue from cash finance direct. They told me that I could have a limit of £2,000.00 if I obtained a credit card from them, with no settlemant Fee or Admin costs, and gave me an 11 Digit reference No. and a 090 telephone number to ring, which they said was the processing department. The application would take 15 mins over the phone @£1.50 a minute.
I don't think I need to say anymore!!!

They called me today for first time. I applied (and got) a Vanquis credit card last month, I clicked on an ad on Facebook which directed me to it, but the day after I started getting about 15 mails a day from various financial companies.

Vanquis has done me a favour in re-starting my credit but not by passing my details to every shifty finance house in the country.

Anyway, my work mobile rang and it was CFD, some fella saying he wanted 'to discuss my application' and pointed out that I hadn't made one and he then abruptly stopped me in my tracks and told me that my application to Vanquis was to them and other organisations.

I then told him he's talking utter b@ll@cks and my number was a work number, 'well you shouldn't of used your work number then' was the reply.

Very rude, very abrupt and had very inferior sales skills, soon got off the phone when I told him to foxtrot oscar in no uncertain terms. The first time in my life I've swore at someone on the phone, I used to do tele sales and appreciate the abuse some people get so normally show them respect, but not this arrogant little ball bag, he soon put the phone down.

My concern is how much info is Vanquis bank selling on?
