Lloyds TSB PPI reclaim question???

Options
I am hoping someone can help me as i am a bit unsure about claiming my PPI back :

Over the past 8 years i have had several loans with Lloyds TSB, some of them i have paid in full over the allocated period of time and some i have paid off early when i have refinanced the loan for a larger loan (bad with money when i was younger!!)

In terms of PPI, i was always told i needed to take it out with the loan to be approved even though i would get full pay if i was off sick from work.

My first query is about the amount, if i paid the loan off in full does that mean that i have also paid the full amount of PPI or just the amount for the number of months it covered??

I also dont have any loan agreements for my loans so am i right in thinking that i need to request a SAR from Lloyds for the details of each loan agreement??

And finally, i have PPI with the 2 loans i currelntly have with Lloyds, i have claimed on both these policies as i was off work for four months, could i still claim my PPI back or not because i have already claimed against them, even though i dont want the PPi, i thought i may as well claim on them whilst i was off, to try and get something back!!!

Cheers for reading, hopefully someone will be able to help me!

    Hi there, we can try.;)

Over the past 8 years i have had several loans with Lloyds TSB, some of them i have paid in full over the allocated period of time and some i have paid off early when i have refinanced the loan for a larger loan (bad with money when i was younger!!)
If you've had loan after loan with the same bank, then the loan balance of the previous loan would normally reduce by a rebate (not actually refunded to you but it reduces the balance), the ppi is also included in the settlement, and therefore you can reclaim on the remainder of the ppi if mis sold for any reason, plus the interest.

In terms of PPI, i was always told i needed to take it out with the loan to be approved even though i would get full pay if i was off sick from work.
If you were already protected by your employer, did they give you the opportunity to check this out with your first?
It is best to be protected in case the unfortunate did happen, but yet again you could have chosen your own stand alone cover if you wanted to and not the banks.

My first query is about the amount, if i paid the loan off in full does that mean that i have also paid the full amount of PPI or just the amount for the number of months it covered??
As stated above, the ppi is included in the loan, so when you settle the loan the whole amount was actually included within the settlement.
If loans are still active, you can just reclaim what you have paid plus interest, as its still an ongoing loan.

I also dont have any loan agreements for my loans so am i right in thinking that i need to request a SAR from Lloyds for the details of each loan agreement??
You can continue to make a reclaim with your reasons by just having your account number for each loan, but if you do require the agreements which will show the amount of PPI that was taken out, you write to them, enclose a £1 cheque or postal order for each one, and ask they supply by 12-14 days.
You can try retrieving the account numbers for each loan on your bank statements, this should be shown next to the monthly repayments.
If you bank online this should allow you to go back to check your statements at least 7 years with LLoyds if I remember correctly.

I note as you have made a reclaim, your not with the same employer that would have protected you as you stated above. (or was this just for sickness)?

However, I understand that depending on your reasons for being mis sold, you can still make a reclaim, but the amount will be reduced as you have made successful claims for being off work.

Cheers for reading, hopefully someone will be able to help me!

For more on reclaiming, check this out here:

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

And to make a reclaim, you complete the reclaiming questionnaire (this replaced the template letters for reclaiming on this site), if mis sold for the same reasons, you can keep to all the same questionnaire, but remember to enclose all account numbers that apply.

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#reclaim

    Complete and send to......

    Lloyds PPI
    Customer Care
    Lloyds TSB Insurance
    Tredegar Park
    Newport
    South Wales
    NP10 8SB

Keep copies as well in case you need to refer to them later on, or complain to the financial ombudsman service (FOS).
They have 8 weeks in full to give a decision, they may possibly ask for more time and give a timescale of when you should expect to hear from them with a decision.

    Hope this helps, good luck.

  • Thankyou for your help!!
Didnt realise that i could go that far back through my bank accounts!!
Found seven different loans through lloyds from the last 8 years!!!

The earlier loans i had through Lloyds are shown on my statement as Loans Direct, do i still go through Lloyds to claim back on these as they were the ones who i went through to get the loan??

  • Ive downloaded the questionnaire form to complete, do i need to complete a seperate form for each loan i have taken out????

Hi there, yes i would do one for each loan, unless they are for the same company, then you can do those on one form, just remember to put the seperate account numbers.x

If it is easier for you, you can write a few lines to the company with your account number(s) and give your reasons why you were mis sold and thay you want all ppi paid to date back with interest.I found writing my own letter was easier, as the template was needing too much info for me, also i think the personal touch is better.x

    Hi there

    That's great, well done!

And yes, if the bank still arranged the loans, then its them you still pursue.;)

  • Right,
recieved a letter from Lloyds TSB Insurance today saying that my insurance was not sold a company that is part of Lloyds TSB Banking Group.
They state that they have forwarded my complaint to the Service Centre EDS (Electronic Data Systems.)?????(who are they!) and they have gave me their phone number.
I sent 7 seperate forms for all of my credit agreements over the last few years.
Does this mean none of my insurance was sold by Lloyds and do you think this is all of my claims as it doesnt state?
ANyone else had a similar type letter?

    Hiya

Can you remember how your loan was sold to you, phone, direct in the branch, online?
If in the branch then it would be those of Lloyds.

Its normally the agreement of the lender - no matter who set up the policy and the repayments are also to the lender.
But the resonsibility of the complaint is always with the broker, or whoever sold and set this up for you.

I would ask Lloyds for the full address of the company if they have not given them, and write to them about your reclaim, basically to make sure its been done.

Good luck, please keep us posted.;)

    Edited to post further.

Do you mean you posted to the branch where you bank?
What they may mean is they sent your complaint to the main complaints dept here below perhaps, please correct me if i'm wrong, cheers.
