Lloyds TSB PPI reclaim question???

  • Had two letters from Lloyds today, both from the same advisor who is dealing with two of my complaints.
Suprisingly asking for more time to investigate my claims of mis selling. Obviously the letter states that i can go to the FOS if i wish or i can wait for lloyds to make a desicion.
Anyone had any experience with this? Any timescales on when they have actually replied with a desicion?
Is it worth going to the FOS now or hanging on (basically, will it be better to go the FOS with a possible rejection letter than nothing other than the 8 weeks being up?)

    Hi there

This is normally the usual thing for lloyds, and they must mention the FOS as well as normal procedures, so its up to you if you want to wait a little longer before making the complaint to the FOS.
As you may already be aware, the FOS can also take some time before they can investigate.

Hope you hear of a good outcome on the 2 of them soon, fingers crossed.;)

  • Do they frown upon the fact that you havent waited for an initial desicion though, even though the 8 weeks are up or does that not come into it?
Just thinking whether it would be quicker or not if i got a desicion off Lloyds or not?

Hi, I'm in the same boat as you. My 8 weeks were up 23rd Nov and received letter asking for more time. I've called and spoken to my Claims Handler at Customer Care and she can't give any timeframes. I'm going to wait I think until JR end of January and take a view then on whether to go to FOS. I'm told that FOS take some time to sort out claims so am hoping that Lloyds might have made a decision by end of January. Good Luck with your claim!

Further my earlier post I rang Lloyds Customer Care yesterday. My Claims Handler (who last week said she had completed her investigations and had passed my file to her Manager for instructions as to what to do next) wasn't in.However I spoke to one of her colleagues. He initially said that my file had gone to undergo calculations, however when I repeated this he changed his tune a little and said it possibly may have gone to undergo calculations. I got the impression that as I've probabably made myself quite difficult he was very wary of giving me incorrect information. A message has been left for my Claims Handler to call me back today so will see what happens next!
  • I'd definately follow it up with another call to your actual claims advisor, i wouldnt bet on them phoning you direct!!
Ive had another 2 letters today, again asking for more time to investigate my claim.
Think its time to get on the phone tomorrow and see whats going on, if i dont get anything that makes me think they are doing anything with it then definately going to start the FOS process. Reckon they are definately stalling to see the result of the JR!

  • UPDATE! After a harsh email to eric daniels complaining about how i feel i have been treated by lloyds i recieved a letter today from the Customer Relations manager form Lloyds stating that she was dealing personally with all my complaints now and an update on each one!! Not sure if this is another fob off from Lloyds but makes me feel better that someone has acknowledged my complaints and could actually do something about them!!

Did you call back Sunandsailcat, any update??

Hi Liam12779, I rang LTSB last week, I was told by my Claims Handler that she has now collated all the info she needs and she has passed to her Manager for comment. I then rang earlier this week and someone else told me they thought the file had gone for claculations to be made. However yesterday I rang the Claims Handler again only to be told that the file is with her Manager and she is awaiting instruction. I asked why it was taking so long and she said that processes are changing all the time and she cannot tell me how long it will take for them to reach their decision. Basically a fob off. I had a long conversation with her and she told me that Lloyds processes are changing a lot. As far as I can tell they are very disorganised and the left hand doesn't really know what the right hand is doing. My Claims Handler "promised" me that she is chasing her Manager regularly and will respond as soon as she is able but doesn't really know how long that will be!
