I am a "Feller" - my opinion still stands. If she wants her independance then you can't force it out of her. Another poster made a good point. Split up now, then you're single and all your money is yours. How's that for financial advice?

I would hope after 5 years Jackie would have picked up on this.

If you're struggling financially, how about getting a lodger instead ?

She might decide she doesn't like the way you leave your toenail clippings on the bathroom floor, or the loo seat up if she moves in.

    Keep a bit of mystery.

If you're looking at your relationship financially then you shouldn't be in it. Talk to her about your issues and not talk about it on a public forum. If she doesn't want to live with you then that's her choice.

I'd not want to give up the security of tenure with HA property either. Who is to say that you find you couldn't actually live together (I'm a beast to live with haha) she'd then find herself homeless.

Are you basically saying you need her to move in (for your financial reasons) or you want her to move in?
