Road rage!!!

The woman in front of me today on a main road into Reading - obviously decided to be ultra courteous to vehicles waiting to enter from side roads on the left
She slammed on her brakes to let them out in front of her - obviously not having looked in her mirror to see what traffic was behind her before her totally unexpected stop - I don't consider that courteous to me - it's downright dangerous - fortunately I was far enough behind her to have no problem stopping in time
The really stupid thing was we were the only two cars on that side of the road at the time - any waiting vehicle had plenty of space to exit a side road after we two had passed
In one mile of road she did this eight times !!!!!!!!!!0 -
People who harass or try to bully learner drivers. Not only am I going at the speed limit (which, as I have passed my theory test within the last two years, I am very likely to be aware of in a way that people who have been driving for longer may not be), I am being supervised by a qualified Advanced Driver, so I am not doing anything wrong.
I am still in a lump of metal that can do a whole load of damage to you and everyone else. It's not my insurance premiums affected, I'm not playing with my mobile, I'm not fiddling with the stereo and if you have a go, I have a respected witness in my vehicle, sometimes with CCTV going for the whole lesson.
This is in particular directed at the elderly %&£ who pulled out in front of me as I was already on the roundabout and proceeded to tailgate me up the road, screaming and shouting to 'give way to the $&$*@& left! Learn to $*£*@%* drive!' whilst flashing his lights and weaving around, making it difficult to see the motorcyclist directly behind him and potentially distracting me from seeing something more important than his temper tantrum in front (a toddler off the leash and sprinting across the road, to be precise).
The white van men trying to push me out of their way when the obstruction is way back on their side are a pain too, as are the 4X4 and Mercedes drivers who don't look over their shoulder before pulling out on the school run. But I can see these guys and deal with them accordingly.
The threatening drivers will not achieve anything by harassing me, though.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
It's not always possible to reverse onto a drive or into a parking space where I am.
Luckily lots of people are aware of this and wait.
Oddly though middle age women seem to be the only ones with a problem doing this there as van drivers are actually the most patient in those circumstances.
Well I don't know your circumstances so can't really comment on that but in the vast majority of cases its going to be safer to reverse on than reverse off.Mostly people seem to do it because they are scared of hitting their stationary house and would rather reverse out blind and risk hitting a moving car that cannot see them coming until the last second. That or they are just not confident enough to perform the maneuver in traffic.
For example, recently I reversed into a cul de sac where parking is very limited and no turning space.Wherever you park you are in front of someones drive.I was going to be there approx 1 minute and in that time an old fella managed to reverse off his drive and hit my vehicle. He said he didn't see me.This would not have been the case if he had reversed onto his drive. If he cannot see a large vehicle behind him then what hope has he got of spotting a more vulnerable road user?
Before anyone pipes up with "Why park there then?" there is generally nowhere to park on the entire cul de sac and the main road it is off is all double yellows and approx 100 yards away.0 -

From reading a lot of posts on this thread, my pet hate would be the people who believe that two wrongs make a right.
I refer you all to Rule 147 of the Highway Code:147
Be considerate. Be careful of and considerate towards all types of road users, especially those requiring extra care (see Rule 204). You should
* try to be understanding if other road users cause problems; they may be inexperienced or not know the area well
* be patient; remember that anyone can make a mistake
* not allow yourself to become agitated or involved if someone is behaving badly on the road. This will only make the situation worse. Pull over, calm down and, when you feel relaxed, continue your journey
* slow down and hold back if a road user pulls out into your path at a junction. Allow them to get clear. Do not over-react by driving too close behind to intimidate them
* not throw anything out of a vehicle, for example, cigarette ends, cans, paper or carrier bags. This can endanger other road users, particularly motorcyclists and cyclists0 -
oh so many things that people do .
1. wanting 2 lanes of space when passing parked cars (when there is clearly enough room in one) , thus holding the whole road up until the opposite lane is clear .
2. stopping in clearways or double parking , then sticking on the Hazards so they can talk on the phone .
3. HGV's taking 10 miles to overtake each other on a DC way .
4. People who don't know what a box junction is , or the rules that apply to entering it .
5. Dithering in general ( getting worse as the population gets older )
a short sharp beep and i have blown off the steam . no point in getting in a rageBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Drivers who block both lanes on a dual carriageway leading up to roadworks despite signs stating "use both lanes" and "merge in turn". If you are so traumatised by being overtaken, use the outside lane!.The "use both lanes" signs are there to stop queing traffic tailing back further than is neccessary.
Not sure if this is countrywide, but local to me while waiting at a wide entrance to single lane islands a car appears alongside you,in effect overtaking at the entrance to an island. Despite there not being room for two cars to drive around the island side by side. I once had cars appear on both sides.0 -
Pet hates
1 - people indicating and thinking that means they have right of way. (cost one stupid female her NCB a few years ago when she hit my front driver side wing forcing her way into my lane.) Even more stupid - people carrier with 3 young children in it and she was driving like a lunatic. Incidentally, I've seen her a few more times on my commute and she still does the same thing - skipping the queue and forcing her way in - she obviously doesn't learn.
2 - had a large artic overtaking another as I drove north on the M74. It started overtaking before Larkhall and was still in the outside lane at Hamilton. Approx distance is 4miles. At Hamilton the overtakee (lorry in lane 1) then exited to Hamilton meaning that the overtaking lorry never managed to pass despite blocking the 2 lane motorway for around 4miles.
3 - people on mobile phones. REALLY hate that one.
4 - people not wearing a seatbelt.
5 - wrong lane on a roundabout. If you're on a roundabout and realise you're in the wrong lane then either leave the roundabout according to the lane you're in, turn around and try again, or go right round the roundabout again. Changing lanes on a roundabout is asking for trouble. Many instances are given as 50/50 so I'm in danger too.
6 - as a passenger, when the driver kicks the car into neutral and coasts rather than keep the car in gear. (not looking for a debate whether that's right or wrong - in my opinion it's wrong and bugs me)
7 - people who block crossings or junctions when queued at traffic lights. Even if there's no yellow box junction, a bit of common sense tells you not to block the junction. Blocking crossings is downright ignorant and dangerous.
I think that's enough for now!!
