You can't do everything and this year your main focus was your weight for the benefit of your health. You have achieved that goal - with bells on, so next year you can get back to debt busting.
You're already doing some lateral / outside the box thinking, so once you put your mind to it anything can be achieved and you *will* become debt free like all our inspirational friends. From my experience, you really never know what's around the corner - and sometimes that can be something very exciting and life changing in a good wayAs KC said, I'll be rooting for you x
Hope little DD is better soon, my OH has been in bed all day with the same. Grim.0 -
If I may be so bold....
Now that you've met me and (hopefully) know I'm not "some nutter off the internet" would you mind PMing me your address?
Thank you kindly0 -

Its good to get back to posting about money! I understand your frustration that the debt has gone up - but I remember a post of yours very much along the lines of what macgirl wrote above, that your health came first, and thats what you've done. Now its time to focus back on the debtbusting ... how are you going to get extra bits in? I've gone through the first phone interview thing of the census job, for instance, and I think you have too? It always seems like something like that won't make much difference with big debt - but things like that are how Hypno got debt free, and its not actually a bad hourly rate at all - only minimum wage, maybe, but much better than mystery shopping, for instance.
I'm rambling, or rather I'm free associating! I'm always ready to lend an ear for *your* free associating to bust the debt. See you soon!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Just catching up as have been travelling!
Sorry your plans to renew didn't happen and that DD is ill. Hopefully its the same sort of thing that macgirls little one had,and it will go soon.
Your focus has been very different this year, as you have had different priorities, not the least your daughter, the baby, and your health.I'm rambling, or rather I'm free associating! I'm always ready to lend an ear for *your* free associating to bust the debt. See you soon!
I prefer 'free associating' as an expression.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

I like free associating too
Well I have done some number crunching and it is not pretty but I am not going to dwell on that:(
I want to pay off £22,221.55 next year and to give myself a headstart I have today made a payment of £1039.34 nothing like working it out to the penny :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
How do I intend to do this - not suresome from normal monthly payments, some from extra payments when I get paid and the remainder from extra income that I need to generate. From the extra income I also want to establish a treat fund so any extra taxable income I will pay one third to debt, keep one third for treats aka the holiday fund and one third for tax out of non taxable extra income 50% to debt and 50% to treat fund.
Yes I have done the census telephone interview said I would hear in 2/3 weeks still not sure as not having welsh could still be a barrier if I do get it then I am going to see about booking a trip to disneyland paris for the end of May as part of the treat package if I don't get it that will have to wait unless I can up my income in other ways.
I do feel I need to factor in the treat fund as I feel I have been too strict in the past and it is not possible to sustain this long term.
Right off to sort out a new sig and think of ways to up my income.
Then I have kids pressies to wrap.

Did you read Firewalker's thread about breaking your finances down in percentages - allocating amounts for general living, debt, savings and treats?
Think I might try to adopt this method next year.
Good luck with the wrapping! x0 -

I did consider doing this but not sure my income would stretch to all of that at the moment whereas with the treats coming out of extra income it is an incentive to find that extra income and also a reward for the extra effort involved.
When I have paid off my non mortgage debt I will revisit the figures and see if I can get FW's figures to work then.

I think a treats fund is essential - when I'm taking so little, I wince at the idea of paying out like that, but I'm sure its one of the influences on me getting ill so often - no treats. For 2011, by the way, there's a year planner in the front of my diary, and social/treats that are confirmed or paid for are not only written in but highlighted in yellow. I've got a few things in already - monthly Egyptology meets, a family do, MG down in Sussex, that Ely thing I booked .... I'm going to consciously make the effort to look forward to them as well, I think that really helps.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
