My washer doesn't have numeric temp settings. I can wash using hot, warm or cold water and rinse using cold or warm.
I use hot for whites & pastals
Warm for bright colours and darks
Cold for pre washing and rinsing
IME powder detergent does not dissolve in water below hand hot. On the rare occassions I have wanted to wash in cool water I have allowed the tub to fill with a small amount of warm water and aggitate and then continue to fill with cold once the powder is dissolved.Life's a beach! I wash at 40, but do the bedding on 60.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

I wash at 30 for the majority of things but do whites, nappies, dog blankets and bedding at 60 - I feel a bit happier washing these things at a higher temp. I have no problems with powder dissolving in the drawer at 30 and I use value powder0

I usually wash at 40 degrees but might try a 30 wash and see how clean it gets stuff

GF washes at 30 degrees after I ordered her to....
We (she) uses liquid though so no problems there, in fact never had any problems!

I wash all mine on 30, we had to get a new washing machine last year after my old trusty one of 7 years and 3 moves to different water types (did well hehe), and I looked for a good one for 30 degree wash. I do wash towels on 60 and dishclothes/cleaning stuff on 95!
I also recommend doing a wash after 12am when it's cheaper, so putting it on delay, we save at least £15 per month from 40 degree during the day, there you go my money saving tip for the day LOLit costs nothing to smile:D0 -
I wash most things on 40, but often use the 30 wash, which takes 30 minutes.
I tend to use it for things which aren't really badly soiled, or when I need something washing in a hurry.
Having said that, I haven't had problems with the powder not dissolving except when I overfilled the machine - not a good idea on shuch a short wash. The powder is Lidl non-bio.
Thinking about it, perhaps I should use this temp more often.0 -
30 and liquid detergent for me. If something needs more drastic intervention then it gets 40, so does the bedding and towels.0

I wash most things on cold and seem to have no problems with the level of cleanliness. Only whites get a warm wash.
I always dissolve one tablet with a couple of tablespoons of soda crystals in a jug, using the boiling water left over in the kettle to avoid any residue problems. Seems to work for us.0 -
I wash almost everything at 30, using half the recommended quantity of Ariel and a small scoop of washing soda, seems to work perfectly well with just about everything (although my kids don't get dirty any more).0
