30 degree wash

I think it probably depends on your machine and the detergent you use. I have a hotpoint ultima which is the very best machine I have ever had.
Any way, I always wash at 30 (apart from whites which I do on 40) and use Ariel tablets - I have never had any problems with the tablets disolving at 30 and my clothes always look fab. However, I do treat any nasty looking stains with Stardrops before I wash.Proud to be dealing with my debts

Since buying my new washing machine I wash at 30 degrees on a short wash (around 40 mins)and max spin. I have a very muddy 12 year old (grass stains on cricket whites a speciality!!) and I very rarely have to wash anything again. I have noticed no difference in the wash from when I used to wash with my old machine at 40 degrees/no fast wash so 1 hour 45 mins every wash. It has saved me enormous amounts of electicity. Occasionally the tablets dont disolve, so I crumble them into the drawer now which solves the problem. I am a convert! I was once told by a friend whose hubby worked for Lever brothers that all washing powder is designed to work in cold water as many countries use cold water to wash clothes.0

I do a 45 min quick wash at 30, it dissolves my Surf Sunshine tablets fine (I can't use cheaper tabs as I am allergic). I pop it on when I get in from work, make some dinner, have a shower then hang it out - we have a washer dryer but anyone with one should agree that they are rubbish for drying!0

We wash at 30 on a quick wash, and everything comes out fine. Having said that, I don't have any muddy children! Any marks I pre treat with a little washing up liquid (thanks Gingham :money: ). We use the Ariel tabs, but only one per load, to keep the cost down.0

I usually wash at 40 degrees, but I did notice in Australia all washing seems to be done in cold water. Perhaps they have better powder. It obviously can be done. All my washing was clean, though I wasn't getting very dirty.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I use a 30 degree quick wash for all our clothes except if there are any very heavily soiled kids clothes then its a hotter wash. The powder has always dissolved ok and I have not noticed any disadvantages for doing this. My machine isn't too old would that make a difference?

My washer is quite old, the 30 cycle is only a short 'swish', for things that aren't really dirty. I rarely use it. Most stuff is done on 40, the hottest I go is 60.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

I always use Fairy non bio on a 40 degree -- 30 minute washcycle for everything ( except tea towels boil wash).
I don't use biological soap powder.
For stains I add a vanish tablet and this works a treat.:TYouGov

Hi all
I always use 30degree wash, using half recommended amount of powder and conditioner ( both Lidl) don't get any residue at all and the secret to the white wash is to soak, by this I mean use your normal powder etc and add some soda crystals let the machine fill up and swoosh around for a bit to wet the clothes and then turn the machine off and let it soak for about 1/2 hour or over night if you want ,then switch back on and finish the cycle, works a treat, my daughters school shirts are always bright white.
ps. for mucky collars I rub with old fashioned green soap that I get from local asian shop, does the same job as vanish but a lot cheaper.
Hope that helps0 -
