But that's supposed to be the point of an online account. All the work is done by you and the computer, so the marginal running costs are close to zero.
Those who want customer service will pay for it through lower interest rates.
That includes paying for their mistakes - but isn't that always the way.
All the same on line accounts need to meet minimum standards such as not losing the application!0 -
I've spoken to them and they confirm the bonus is payable for accounts opened between 17th and 31st October but as per the offer terms (which I forgot about) 'Bonus' interest should only be added the first time after one full month of account opening - and at the same end-of-the month along with standard interest thereafter. So at the end of next month all interest will be included.Example of bonus interest payment dates
If your account was opened on 24 October 2012, the bonus would work as follows:
Bonus period starts 24 October 2012
Bonus period ends 24 October 2013
First bonus interest payment 31 October 2012
Final bonus interest payment 31 October 20130 -

Hmm, that's not what the T&Cs said:

The example made it quite clear that the first bonus would be paid, as a separate item, at the end of October - it gives an example witht he first bonus interest payment as 31st October 2012.
It will all probably fix itself once they spot their mistakes, but it doesn't fill one with confidence in Natwest, yet again.0 -

Well i did transfer a large amount into a esaver, which was set up between the dates advertised.I have just rang them to confirm my interest rate, and i was informed that it is 1% with no bonus. Now this is not the first time Nat West have pulled this stunt with me,and it will be the last,i am fuming.0

Oh i cannnot find my interest rate listed anywhere.0

Is there any way to find out, other than phoning in? It's rather outrageous that information like this is so hidden on account details.0
-
So much conflicting stuff on the Natwest esaver that now even I am concerned as to whether this bonus account I opened will actually be getting the bonus or whether they have messed up and we are only getting the basic 1%
They pulled it very quickly, did they realise they were offering too much or something?0 -
The words 'NatWest Helpful Banking' are strewn across their website.
Not at all helpful if you ask me. No way to send a message either. Just an 0845 number. My account has opened but I too have no idea of the rate.
Sorry NatWest - will not be using this account.0
