About a month ago I went into my local branch, signed a form and a cheque arrived a couple of weeks later in the post.0

The covering letter that came with the cheque had a Bolton address.0

You don't even need any cash in it for it to stay open, I have 3 esaver accounts with NW, as the interest rate went down I just moved the cash to the newer one paying the higher interest, so one account from a few years ago has zero balance, one has 1 penny and the other my normal esavings, all 3 still show up in online banking, I never seem to get around to closing the old ones!0 -
One danger with leaving accounts open is you may miss out on an offer.
I enquired about a 2% bonus deal on First Reserve and was told that I couldn't have it while I had an eSaver. I was planning to close it anyway. Having given instructions to close eSaver I was told a couple of days later I wouldn't get the deal because I had eSaver within the previous 90 days. When I was eventually pointed at the Ts&Cs for the deal by an MSE member there was no mention of a 90 day cut-off but by then I was so sick of NatWest's misinformation I didn't bother to argue and withdrew my application. They really are useless.0 -
I also opened a new eSaver when the interest rate dropped before, so I have 2 accounts too. One with, and one without a balance . It doesnt matter if you take everything out, so I wouldn't worry too much about closing the account.
I still don't understand why some people have said they have 12 month or 15 month extensions and others (including myself) only have a 3 month. Seems a bit odd, does anyone know on what basis this is?0 -

Not sure what bonus extension periods others have been given? My letter states "we are extending your bonus rate until 14th Feb 2012".
Have others been given longer?0 -
Apparently so...
There are people within this thread that have mentioned it, as Cath did earlier, and some people on this thread also

Some people have said 12 months, some have said 15 months.
Ive been offered 3 months on my account, as has my boyfriend, and also my mum. Can't understand why some have longer offers than others. It doesnt seem to have been decided on the amount that is in the account... :S0 -
Just received final closed esaver statement
Monthly 1% interest added
No bonus interest added (thanks to Tippytoes posting on02/11/11)
Natwest will not discuss on telephone, will have to go to local branch as they say in their account closure letter
Have rung local branch who say they cannot deal with it as it is a closed internet account
Will still go to branch later in week to try to get it resolved
The saga of this account just goes on and on0 -
Those who got extensions at 2.85% missed out on the opportunity of having an account paying 3.12% until February 2013.
