I opened a small saving account with Santander. I have more than one account with RBS and I dont mind the other accounts to be transfered. My main account is with RBS.
So I applied, got accepted. This was over a month ago. I still cant get / havent got internet access. That was the main reason why I opened in the first place.
I thought they were getting better with customer service. I might be wrong. On the plus side I now have a bright red card!!0 -

Anyone any idea what happens to RBS offset ??
Yes, whilst your new account is defaulted to your existing branch, you can choose a different branch very easily by entering the sort code of your desired branch.
I don't know anything about offset. Sorry.0 -
There is a sort code checker on the RBS/NatWest website. It will check both banks sort codes for the move. You could put ur mortgage sort code into it.
You can ask for the your accounts to be moved to a Scottish branch of RBS. Otherwise, just open new accounts yourself on the RBS website - ensuring the branch sort code starts 83xxxx.hermanmunster wrote: »Did you get to choose branch?

I've got E&W accounts offset to RBS mortgage.0 -
At the moment, I have an English RBS account which will go to Santander, but my actual branch is 200 miles away and never visit it - I do most in-person transactions, mainly paying in cheques, through our village Natwest. Presumably once the Santander accounts are sold that won't be available to me and we don't have a nearby Abbey/Santander branch.
So I really have to move my account somewhere and am torn between loyalty and locality. I can either move it to my local Natwest (who have already said they will do a like-for-like account for me with same overdraft facilities), or transfer it to a Scottish RBS. Since I have been with the Royal Bank since they took over the Williams and Glyns account I opened when leaving school, I am tempted to stay with them and move my account north of the border. The question I have is, does anyone know if the relationship I currently benefit from for paying-in, between English Natwest and Scottish RBS branches, will continue after the Santander split? If not I may as well take NatWest up on their offer.0 -
I too joined Williams & Glyns!
I spoke to RBS today - very helpful if you actually say "I want to move to Scotland" ... I mean want to move my account:D. Said that the mortgage being offset will follow the main accounts. The switch will take place in June (though I may open an account there sooner).
I have never lived nearer than 50 miles to my branch since leaving school and always post cheques to them or do online banking. Works fine and I have no concerns about the transfer to Scotland. Just having fun deciding quite where we will have the account! Lerwick, Stornoway ... Gretna (first place you get to over the border )0 -

You'll still have the same level of services at NatWest branches after the sell-offs as NatWest/RBS will both remain part of the RBS group.
If your going to make the switch another part of RBS, why not just move to NatWest? The major difference is that you would have full branch access when/if you need it, rather than a slow pay-in service.profscooter wrote: »At the moment, I have an English RBS account which will go to Santander, but my actual branch is 200 miles away and never visit it - I do most in-person transactions, mainly paying in cheques, through our village Natwest. I work in RBS in England and I've transferred my account to one of the retained branches. One reason amongst a few is I like and am confident with the digital banking service. From experience Santander's online offering is far inferior.0

I have RBS accounts in london. Because i am being dumped by the scots I opened a savings account with Santander. Therefore I thought when my accounts move it would not be any problems. I have tried a few times over the past month to get access for the online banking. It would appear this is not an easy thing to do.
I am also talking to RBS about saving a current account in a colder place to keep my banking needs alive.0 -

Do you really need a full branch network. As we know cheques are going another thing to remind us all that we are getting old. Before my time music use to be on a pizza!! I download my music no pizzas for me.
what else do you need a branch for. I have always found RBS great on the telephones.
However Natwest are great as well, just it depends on your needs.0
