I received the form and asked them to do the transfer to an Edinburgh branch immediately but they said they couldn't. Went into said branch and asked them to transfer the accounts now, and they said they weren't allowed to do it now - have to wait until nearer the sale date.

Am going to go in next month with ID and try to open new accounts in Edinburgh and leave the accounts in England with a nil balance.

btw, I've never had anything other than wonderful customer experience from RBS. The internet banking is fantastic, FP up to £10,000 per day, instant transfers. Will NOT go to Santander - cr** internet banking, cr** FP and cr** customer service.

Why not just move to NatWest? They're effectively RBS too.

Seems a bit daft (sad) going to Edinburgh just to open a bank account?!?
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

My local NatWest branch was unfortunately included in this. As a customer of NatWest for many years, they've provided excellent service and I'm gutted that it's closing near me. I'm in the process of moving my accounts to RBS, which luckily will remain open in Scotland.

Santander can shove their banking facilities where the sun don't shine.

You can start the process online all you need to do is a search on the website to choose which branch you want. Then apply just choose which branch you want on the final screen.

Well not really. If you move from RBS to Natwest you have to start all over again getting a good credit rating with the bank.

Then also you hvae the additional ease of opening another account and transfering all info need in your own time.

Personally I think you're overselling Santander. Run people run.
Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.
  • Santander have the worst customer service in the world! I hate banking with them. I have had no end of problems. As soon as I clear my overdraft with them I am moving elsewhere. Run run run RBS and Natwest people. Dont go anywhere near Santander!

Just seen the above - don't know how scientific it is but shows Santander at 8.57% like.:rotfl: Higher than I'd have thought.

I've already moved my account. 5 minutes online and return a form by post. Much better than spending a month later down the line struggling to get Santander to do anything. One tip, I started to transfer my direct debits individually and the telephone banking advisor offered to do it all for me. Took less than three minutes.

Did you get to choose branch?

Anyone any idea what happens to RBS offset ??

I've got E&W accounts offset to RBS mortgage.
