When I asked in Natwest in the village the other day, the front desk seemed similarly uninformed, had to ask a supervisor.0

It was on the BBC over the weekend. I think their Radio 4 program did a feature. So being Wednesday & their money section, it was only natural that they were going to do an article.0 -

Offset mortgages are domiciled at 161314 not 166051.0 -
I have just called about getting a form to stay with RBS because my main account is an English branch as I have had it years but now live in Scotland.
They said the transfer will not happen until just before the sale. The problem is that I now need to put my trust in one piece of paper being processed by RBS, 18 months from now and hope there is no confusion and Santander don't try and transfer my account. This leaves me feeling a bit nervous as there is a lot of scope for this to go wrong.
I think I might try and sort this out myself by opening another account and closing the old one. Never trust anything to do with Santander:mad:Weekly Spend Challenge: £0/£30

If you are living in Scotland its easier. Just nip into your local branch work or home and say you need another account for certain bills or something. They should be happy to look after you. Then transfer when you like it should be easy.
On a seperate note I am wondering if Santander will actually call the old RBS bits Santander or use Williams & Glyn's name.0 -

The first option the bank will offer is the one you mention, if however you are insistent it will sort it for you now.0 -
It's a great idea isn't it? Breaking up these big banks... to create even bigger banks
I'm with RBS, never had any problems and the online banking is a doddle, especially as I also have a CC with them, plus a Tesco savings account, so money transfers are pretty immediate.
Is there anyway I can effect the transfer to a Scottish branch online? Or do I need to call?
Thanks0 -

I think the only way is to call. I think that by advertising on a web site, even the online site would be against EU rules.
Also I do feel as with many busines they might want to get rid of a few customers anyway.0 -
