Anyone trying to lose weight for their wedding?

I'm getting married next July and really want to be the best part of ten pounds lighter by then but I'm really struggling with the motivation! I was thinking that if anyone was else was trying to do this then we could help encourage and share tips?
I don't have any friends who can go to the same gym as me or who have similar aims so could really use some encouragement from somewhere!

hey, i'm getting married in august 2012 and really don't want to get to a few months before and be like arghh i need to lose loads of weight! so far i've switched all my snacks to weightwatchers stuff and have a weightwatchers ready meal during the week and normal food at the weekend. I've also started walking to work as much as possible. i also find that an inspiration board works well for me-a picture of the dress you want could also really help motivate you!Weight loss 2015: -4lbs January (thanks flu):wall:

Thanks jelly, that's a good idea about the dress picture. My OH thinks I'm a bit mental about this so might need to keep it in my purse! My main problem is the evenings sat at home. We're busy saving up so not going out so I'm spending evenings sat on the sofa eating pringles- not good!0

I'm the same, just eat out of boredom when watching the telly. Try swapping the pringles for some popcorn or grapes, something just as nice to munch on. Don't completely ban treats though because that's all you'll think about. Have you got a wii fit? That's a fun way to work out if you hate the gym.Weight loss 2015: -4lbs January (thanks flu):wall:

Hi Maddie
I'm doing Weightwatchers too. I've managed to lose a stone and a half since the end of April (have been doing it slowly as then I've got a better chance of keeping it off after the wedding, instead of just crash dieting then putting it all back on and more afterwards!). I've got 16 weeks left until our wedding and want to lose another stone, which is one lb per week so I think achievable.
I started going for a brisk walk twice a week and have now built that up to a gentle jog/walk, I've got a route that's about 3 and a half miles, which I do with a friend, and a Davina dvd that I'm going to start doing now that the mornings are getting darker (my friend and I usually get up early and jog/walk at about 7am before work).
Evenings/weekends are my downfall too. My OH loves biscuits and kettle chips, and I do too! I always have a stash of WW snack bars to nibble on, plus things like carrot sticks and fruit and stuff.
Once you get into the swing of it, 10lb is totally achievable, even at 1lb per week, you could have lost that before Christmas!
Good luck!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
heya maddie
Im trying to lose 200lbs in 2 years started last week and have lost 10lbs already.
Try and have little reminders around the places you would normally snack, so if you snack at the table when the kids are eating have seomething to do such as your guest list etc.
If you go in the fridge have the dress picture in tha back of the fridge
when shopping take your dress pic with you and before you put anything in the trolley say is this going to help me achieve this or not
make proper shopping lists and stick to them
plan your meals and stick to it
try going on www.livestrong.com the website allows you to track all your calories and helps you track everything and adjusts you calories for the ammount of exercise you do and in a MSE way its free!!!! (it is a US site so it is in lbs)
good luck and stay strong and try not to deny yourself everything in moderation is fine!!!!!!!!The only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50 -
I'm another evening grazer. I buy loads of healthy snacks but then raid the naughty stuff instead :embarasse
I want to lose 1.5 stone if I can. I do belly dancing (have done for the past 2 years), and hula hoop a bit, but have just started zumba which is brilliant fun and a lot more lively so hopefully will burn some of the fat stuff off. I did lose some pounds in the summer but am now pretty much back to where I was 2 months ago, but really am determined this time. I stopped updating my signature but am going to use that to make me be good this time0 -

Meeee... I'm trying to lose 1 stone for the wedding.
I lost around 2.5 stone gradually, a few years ago, and have managed to keep it off. Now I'm at the last stone and it's definitely a lot harder! Wedding is 8 months away so need some motivation.
I started running in June and have seen some inch loss but nothing on the scales!!0 -

It's inch loss I'm more bothered by....to be honest if my weight stayed the same but if I toned up, trimmed down and could get in smaller clothes I'd be happy regardless of what the scales said0 -
