2 AF for October please Shaggy and
2 for the challenge Pen
Me too!
Got home early, ate my favourit comfort food, cheese and crackers, and went to bed at 7, was sooo tired. Definitely asleep by 8. Not sure if it's just the lack of sugar or the fact that I often don't sleep through the night peacefully after drinking too much as my 3am posts on here will testify. Woke up after 6 but before the alarm. Still feel tired but my sleep was different to usual. Guess I need to pay back a big sleep deficit.
Still haven't done my CV. It has been hanging over me for ages now, and I felt more stressed than I should during the last two days, very tearful at times over nothing in particular or something too small to cry over. Hopefully all that sleep will help me through another difficult day today. I really like most of my team at work and find it difficult to take this redundancy stuff in my stride. I am not really a good poker player, very open which is fine when my emotions are positive. Today I will try to keep it all in perspective.
Have a good day everyone.0 -

Budgie has been feeling invisible at workLong story but I realise its not the job I want to keep doing? Sensible Budgie knows she has no other option while Mr Budgie is still out of work. But my long term plan is to change my career path.
It may sound corney but Budgie wants to do a job role where she makes a difference:)
In my previous job I used to literally bounce to work, go in on my days off and loved it, then my lovely boss left after 4 years and I inherited a muppet. Stuck him for a further 2 years and then left.
I have been in my current job for the past 7 years and I have gone through 4 managers already  A fifth is on the cards too .................
As you can probably tell, I do tend to stick with what I know. But I have an increased feeling that I need to change.
Hiya, the counselling is hard going but it's okay.:) Sorry you are feeling frustrated at work, that must be really difficult.:(

W B F I'm just the opposite, sleep like a log if I drink but suffer hallucinations and really weird dreams when I don't. I think I need longer periods off the stuff to try and establish proper sleep patterns. Sorry you are having a hard time at the moment. These periods do pass so try and keep strong. Well done on your af days.

The weather's glorious here, blue skies, fluffy clouds And I just looked at weather in Lisbon for my holiday and it's going to be 20 degrees (better get my summer clothes back out):Drandomname wrote: »W B F I'm just the opposite, sleep like a log if I drink but suffer hallucinations and really weird dreams when I don't.

I'm very similar randomname (wouldn't like to shorten your name in the obvious way:o). It's a good feeling going off to sleep almost instantly on drinking nights. AF nights, I go to bed late, it takes me at least an hour to drop off and then I sleep fitfully in 2/3hr blocks:(

I am in a completely crazy position.....3 and a half weeks ago I won, in a national European lottery, and I am not kidding here - 3,5 million Euros.....
Of course I have stuff I want to do with the money.......
But one of them is buy and drink as much alcohol as I can get down my neck.
I have drank every day since I found out about the win...bar 3...
It's like "I have loads of money, no financial problems, so can celebrate with drink..." But I didn't HAVE any financial problems!!!!!
I am going to try a "posh" rehab.....but I still think that no amount of money will solve my drink problem....
What do you guys think?0 -
Well if you've got the money, time, drink problem and the desire to stop it can't do any harm.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

alchera - difficult to know what to say, but taking your post at face value and looking back to your first appearance on the thread, you presumably first posted on here a couple of days after your win. At that time you said "I'm new. I am extremely shy and socially awkward...but I am trying to stop drinking alcohol......." so my first thought is that if your problem has hugely escalated in the last 3 weeks, is there somebody you can talk to that knows your position and that you can trust?

Hi all,
I have only recently (last few months) realised that alcohol has wrecked my life for years...I am seeking help through an NHS funded alcohol counselling service and am due to do a home based detox next month.
My 'typical' daily 'liquid diet' has been around 2-3 bottles of wine or a bottle of spirits. I have been in denial for SO long, somehow convincing myself that every one else was/is drinking the same! I know, how STUPID.
I have been drinking the above amount as a 36 yr old female for the past three or so years and surprisingly my blood test came back ok. BUT when I try to give up, the wake-up call, I get extreme visual and auditory hallucinations, shaking, jerking, sweating...It's very scary, so now I am left with no option but to have a detox  I also have extreme cravings to the point where all I can think of is having another drink when I am drinking or not.
My questions: Has anyone here had a medically assisted detox and what was it like and was it successful?
Also, after being a successful person in my profession, I am now on JSA. Doc has just given me a sick note - should I apply for ESA?
Any help, MUCH appreciated! Thank you, in advance.

Wow! what fantastic luck. Congratulations,
I guess the reason you are here is because you have an ongoing problem with alcohol.
If so, this seems to be your issueI am going to try a "posh" rehab.....but I still think that no amount of money will solve my drink problem....

If you don't take control now, your win may not be so lucky after all.
I don't wish to appear cruel but you are now in a position to get some quality professional help but the desire must come from you.
Invest the money wisely and do think hard about your drinking.
