Hi all,
Hope you are all well!! I have just 'celebrated' my first year of being alcohol free and am so pleased with myself!! This time last year, well before I quit had gradually descended from 'social' drinking to hard dependent drinking. I was about to loose my family, was suspended from my job and all sorts. My life was in chaos, I was so unmaagable choosing to put everything off, fianciaes, bills everything off as I choose to drink instead of be pro active and do things.
I needed to give up, I couldnt moderate, I was obsessing about alcohol all the time and it was the old, one was too many a thousand ver enough.
So 53 weeks sober, I am well chuffed with myself, lead a more fufilling and spiritual life!! I am glad I cottoned on to this killer disease early on and didnt go more years causing upset, chaos and carnage to me and my family.
Love to you all xxxxSober and Fabulous 4/1/10

Happy Birthday to you Jeffgeorge,:bdaycake::bdaycake::bdaycake:.I love first AF birthdays.
I like you found out what a vile progressive thing Alcoholism is,mine progressed very slowly for many years, sometimes I had it under control or gave up completely for a while, but I always started again.
Life is so much better now, free of the obsession with Alcohol.
I too have thought of Sim a lot, just hope he is somewhere safe.Sobriety delivers everything Alcohol promised.

15 AF DAYS FOR ME PLEASE SHAGGY.
was just going through a stage of feeling sorry for myself and wondering wether this giving up alcohol lark was all worth it and dreaming of big round glasses full of Shiraz. Then I read the article and am glad I`m where I`m at.0 -

Well done Jeffgeorge you are an inspiration I want to get to where you are at.
Having made the decision myself that I must be a quitter rather than a cutter downer (as I too was just obsessing about alcohol all the time), can I ask you a question ? How did you cope with the times when you wondered wether you were doing the right thing, the times where you felt like you had become the most boring person in the world or did you never get these feelings ? maybe its just me ?0 -
And happy birthday from me jeffgeorge. :T
I know that it is not easy.
