I am back home - thank goodness for that. What an utter waste of time this week has been

Anyway - my problem drinking days are not the weekend days and they are not when I go out with peeps that have a drink. My problem times are normal working days when I go and get DD after work, come home, feed her, pop her to bed and then sit here absolutely shattered. That is when I most want to have a drink. But thanks to this thread and declaring AF days it seems to keep me on straight and narrow.

Declaring 14 please Shaggy and Pen and Lurks - bonus night is in the bag. :)

mixed bag for me this month. On the negative I have not racked up too many alcohol free days... Although i racked up two as of Wednesday and Thursday this week....

On the positive when I have drunk it has never been more than two beers, so my alcohol intake has been much much lower.....

I know I am not going to hit my 14 days af for jan but to be honest i am happy that i have changed my drinking habits greatly....
  • Welcome Bear and good evening to everyone else. Dizzibint- Same as Maman- if I drink I find that my face and eyes are all puffy- and I look generally rubbish the next day. :( Face has slimmed down since I've been 'cutting down'. Have lost 3 pounds too- but think that's also the diet........

Not AF tonight- but not going mad. Just a couple- have to be at the gym tomorrow at 10. My friend has just joined the same gym as me and it's brilliant as she's really motivated and wants to try lots of different classes. Nicer going with a good friend. :)

    Have a good weekend everyone.

Hi Everyone  and a hello and welcome to Bear, its so nice when newbies join as i dont feel like the new girl in the class any longer! I just rejoined this board at the start of the new year, its fab.
Well done everyone on all your achievements this month, its lovely seeing Pens chart with all the smiley faces and handclapping. On that note
9 AF for me please Shaggy and Fri bonus please Pen
I was soo ready to down a bottle of wine last night when i got in from work last night (issues with staff) but knew the way i was feeling, it wouldnt have touched the sides. I think to be honest this was first 'real' challenge but as i had decided to go to Zumba at 7pm i decided to hold onto my rage and give it big kicks at the class which i did!

Those of you who don't drink on a 'school night', do you find this sends you on a total bender at weekends or that you can just drink a moderate(ish) amount??

I've joined Slimming World so am hoping that cutting down on the booze (lager is my poison) will help too!

Has anyone else lost lbs from not drinking as much??

Dizzi ~ im kinda knew to the not drinking on school night this is only my 2nd week but i havent found so far that ive gone on a bender, im trying to think of a Fri as a school nite, as to be honest my risky days are the ones im off work which is every Sat/Sun. With regard to losing weight, normally in my first week on diet i lose about 3-4 pounds (still drinking) but this time i lost 5 and a half pounds when i stopped drinking. It may not be related but its the biggest weight loss ive had in a long time.
Hope everyone has a good weekend, Daisy im going to try again to motivate myself to go to Zumba tomorrow morning, found a class thats on at 10am which is a bit better than 9am!!

You've done well dprovan. To be honest, if they hadn't discovered units in wine (or calories:rotfl:) I would never have joined this thread. Someone on here tried setting a units target instead a while back. Maybe that would suit you? Perhaps alongside a modest AF target?

Me too, mackeroo and tonight I've managed it. I felt I needed to after having a small drink on Tuesday. It did help that I've been to the cinema for part of it and did my 'put the kettle on as soon as you get in' trick afterwards.

    That's 8AF for January, Shaggy
and 4 for this week's challenge please Pen.

I was up so early this morning, 7 am to be precise Grrrrrrr...so i got up made some lentil soup for pal who is poorly with the flu at the min and then decided to go to the earlier Zumba class...OMG i can hardly walk, its so different from the other class i go to on a Thursday, this one was high energy...my face was red as a tomato and hair super frizzy...but i had to pop to supermarket on the way home praying that i wouldnt bump into anyone i knew..thankfully i didnt..i was so quick round the shop it was like a scene from supermarket sweep :rotfl:
Me and hubby also going out tonight, to friends who we havent seen for a wee while, so like DaisyC going to try and watch what im drinking...but im not going to give myself a hard time if i do have more than i intended, ive got 9AF days under my belt this month, its been years since this happened. Hope you have a great night DaisyC sure you will look fantabulous x

Evening all. I'm out tonight to a 60s themed party but I feel really ill - have been in bed most of the day trying to fight it off. Will go and show my face but not too late back I hope.
    Trying to keep in budget.

Have had nice and relaxing day. Managed to update my spreadsheets, reconcile bank and cash, sort through post and have a nice walk with BF and DD and after walk we went to have tea and cake in a lovely tea house. Now full of supper, going to put DD to bed and then have a cuppa.

    Declaring 15 please Shaggy
