Those of you who don't drink on a 'school night', do you find this sends you on a total bender at weekends or that you can just drink a moderate(ish) amount??

Has anyone else lost lbs from not drinking as much??

    Jo x

Jo, I try not to drink on school nights and then find on a Friday I can only cope with a few glasses before I can really feel it. Not drinking during the week does stop me looking so bloated all the time and I think I've lost a couple cm's as my work clothes fit nicely at the moment (can't be doing with scales and things - far too scary).

Its my face that shows the difference. After a couple nights not drinking I look so different - its less puffy, the redness disappears and I generally look more alive/fresh. It only takes a Friday night on a bender to loose that though.
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

:T Well done! You feeling as pleased with your self as I am? Good luck tonight if you decide to go for the Friday bonus.

I'm going to try for a bonus night tonight. I'm on 3 for this week's challenge Pen and might make it 4 if I try hard tonight, if that's OK. Well done lurks and everyone else who's had a successful AF week.

Was very odd this morning. Woke up thinking "thank god, its friday". My thoughts would then normally turn to getting a bottle of wine into the fridge for tonight. But today they didn't!:T Me too, which is why I'm hoping to be AF tonight.

Tomorrow is another matter. Piglet at the out-laws for the night and me and OH are doing a trip to Ikea in Bristol before going out for our Toby. THAT will be the real test for me. Will have plans in place....lemon and lime fizzy water, good book, bubble bath. Hopefully it'll get me through it!

They do serve soft drinks but you can't have a bath in the Toby MissP:eek: and reading a book might be considered a bit anti-social;)

I've joined Slimming World so am hoping that cutting down on the booze (lager is my poison) will help too!

Like Pen, I've found my tolerance level dropped when I started to have AF nights so, no, any 'making up for it' behaviour should stop quite soon. I'm also doing SW as I didn't find any instant weightloss from cutting down. Counting syns in the lager:eek: will also concentrate the mind and help you stay AF.

    Hi everyone,

just been poking around the MSE forums & reading up on advice for re-doing my kitchen, but I've come across this thread (somehow!)and would like to be counted in!

I've not had the best start really, managed 2 AF days last week (until I went back to work and found out the size of my workload for the next few months) and then done another 3 this week (Mon, Tues & Weds). Intend to do Mon-Thurs next week and then see how I go. Does this qualify me for any of the challenges? Not had chance to read through the whole of this thread yet so not quite worked out all the rules. :o

I'd like to aim for 14 AF days this month and increase this for next month, definitely need to watch for those triggers though... especially on stressful days at work. It's the 1hr+ drive home that's the worst, I spend the majorirty of it debating with myself whether to go and get wine... not good at all. :(

Anyway, not sure I'm quite ready to do the AF weekends yet, one day at a time for sure will have to be the way I approach this.

Best of luck to everyone who is going for the AF weekends and well done to all of you so far with the days of abstinence and also the weight loss!

It's so good to find somthing like this thread for support and advice, and to know that I'm not the only one struggling with this makes me feel a little better.

Welcome bear, yours sounds a very familiar story and I'm sure you'll fit in just fine.:)

If you just post 14AF for January to Shaggy (who's doing the monthly challenge) and 4AF to Pen (who does the weekly ones) that's the best way. I should do that on on Sunday (forum down tomorrow) just before challenge is ready to start then they'll sign you up. All existing AF days for January will be counted;) so be sure to tell Shaggy that total too.

    Good luck!
