Hi everyone, Just a quick drop in to see how you all doing, must go now as I`m supposed to be working.

Although I do need advice on how to deal with stroppy teenagers.
My 16 year old girl calls me stupid and pathetic and tells me to grow up when all I`m trying to do is get her to get moving so she doesnt miss the school bus. I keep telling myself that its teenagers and thats what they do but the thing that bugs me is that I would never ever had called my mum names, yes I threw strops and banged doors etc but I never called her names, it just hurts so bad when my daughter does, it just makes me feel so c**p and upset.

Anyway on a better note 10 AF DAYS FOR ME PLEASE SHAGGY.

Can I just say, I WAS that Teenager. As Maman says, its a phase that will pass, but a line must be drawn at namecalling. I was pretty horrendous to my Mum but never called her names. And when I look back now I feel absolutely terrible about how I was. With me it lasted a year or two (probably felt longer for my Mum!). Lots of ((hugs))

Trasi - I know exactly how you feel. I have three beautiful DDs, age 19, 17 and nearly 15. DD1 has been, and still is, very, very difficult. She's at uni now, doing BSc Economics, so I'm very proud - but when she was at home over Christmas, we were still treading on eggshells around her, and she swore at me too - this resulted in me 'reading her the riot act' ie explaining that this behaviour will not be tolerated in this house . I think it's so difficult if you don't let them get away with it - it must be easier to just let it go - but then they will never learn in that case, and never grow up to be responsible adults. Also, as December Baby knows, when they go out and you can't really sleep soundly until they come home, which can be as late as 4-5:00 am - I would never have dared, but unfortunately, this seems to be common practice nowadays. Have a moan on here at any time, there are a few of us who can sympathise with you. ;)

    Jo - good luck sweetheart

7 for me please, Shaggy, ta

  • Thank you all so much for your kind comments I know that it probably is just a difficult phase she is going through (she admitted later that she is getting really bad mood swings and loses her temper, especially in the mornings) but I realise that I do have to exert a bit of tough love with her. Not drinking is helping me to keep calmer in these situations as I`m trying not to blow them all out of proportion. Thanks again for all your kind comments and advice. Trasi x

I'm no expert, I have boys and they are so far behaving quite well.... but, what I would try to do was in a quiet, peaceful moment explain that you are not doing ANYTHING out of spite and it is ALL with HER interests at heart, even though it might not seem that way to her at the time.

But what do I know....... :o

    Hi Everyone
6 AF (including today) please Shaggy and 2 Pen
Hope everyone is keeping well and warm. Pleased with my AF days so far, and starting to adjust life accordingly its still a strange feeling being sober at 10pm, watching and remembering telly progs the next day and reading books. Im enjoying it but taking everyday as it comes, im sure this is the 'honeymoon period' of being AF. Ive got my first wieigh in at fat class 2moro  so hoping that ive shifted at least a few pounds, will be looking out my lightest clothes for the weigh in :rotfl:

Me to- r.e the weigh in tomorrow night Mackeroo....x
Have ruined the 'should have been' 9AF by having wine when I got home tonight.. no excuse really, just a trying day.
Also- feel like I shouldn't really be here.... is this an alcoholic thread or 'trying to cut down' thread??
  • Evening all,

Having just read over the past few days posts I am really happy to say that I am now more determined than ever to get out of the habit of cracking open a bottle every night. Over the "Christmas" break....(which lasted about 3 weeks in my house!!) it was just one excuse after another, lots of company = lots of wine etc etc with lots of friends around all encouraging eachother to have yet another impromptu party:eek:!

I am very proud (probably should be ashamed :o) to announce my 1st AF day of the year last night and am AF again tonight so feeling a bit better about life. Does anyone else find these first few days trying to climb back on the wagon just crawl past ? Since about 4 this afternoon all I have thought about is getting in to bed with my book....not too long to go now although, I plan to be tucked up in my pj's with 10 pillows, fluffy socks and a nice cup of tea by 9. I am working my way through a big pile of books at the moment and really find this helps keep me away from the wine bottle.

Already a bit worried about this weekend's plans as I have 2 evenings arranged with friends who will look at me like I have grown an extra nose if I say I am off the wine :rotfl: but for now Monday to Thursday is my aim this week and who knows I may even go for Sun-Thurs next week seeing as there are some rebels out there changing the rules....

Hope everyone's OK tonight and thanks for all the inspiring words.

Why do you feel like you shouldn't be here?? This is a giving up / cutting down thread. Supports given, whatever option you go for. Hope you are ok - don't think anythings been said to make you feel unwelcome?
