I certainly won't look for revenge with OH

Just make him one of your 'special' cakes Miss P :D :rotfl:

Hope everything back to normal now xx
This time last year I couldn't wait for 2009 to end I had enough go wrong in that year and this year has been different, much happier and feel ok about the year ending and a new one starting. Feeling pretty positive about 2011 too.

This time last year I was adament that 2010 was going to be different, I would save money, I would be sober, I would sort my life out etc et. That's not quite happened but the wheel has been set in motion. I did manage a month sober a few weeks ago, plus have made the decision that OH and I should no longer be together and working towards and planning our split up. So I really do believe that 2011 is going to be a good year, I have lots to look forward to this year for the first time ever :)

Hiya HB, it HAS been a long time, hoping 2011 is better than the last, you know where I am if you need a shoulder to text on :)

Have a happy, safe and healthy 2011 everyone, I plan to ;)

  • It only went for me when I changed myself......

My self-pity, anxiety, neuroses, and selfishness were still there when I put down the drink.
Booze was the escape from my head and my problems.
I had to change myself to live a full and happy life.

Everything felt flat on social occasions when I wasn't drinking. The only way to rid myself of that feeling was for me to either drink or change. Drink stopped working, thus change was necessary.

Thanks Graheme, I know darn well your right, I just struggle a bit sometimes.

Well done jj for your AF night, healthy for your decision, graeme for the words of wisdom and Jo I hope you make the right decision for you and your family. Good luck everyone

I had 1 drink last night - ginger wine and ginger beer and forgot it was an alcoholic drink as I gulped it down thirstily and then remembered. So stopped and poured a jug of mixed fruit juice to drink instead. Then later on had a hot chocolate and went to bed to try and sleep through the fireworks going off.

Woke up and set off to take the dog for a walk to find a shopping trolley outside my house. Thanks - got bored pushing it away did you? So pushed it all the way back up to Mr S so a bit more exercise than planned in the rain this morning!

AF month planned and pleased to get rid of the claws of alcohol again that have stuck back into me again

Like happy shopper I've kept track of my AFD % for 2010 and have come in at 91% for 2010.

I'm on 73% AFDs - which is 5 AFDs per week and that's where I want to be:D

Welcome HC. I don't think you'll get too many votes on here for non-alcoholic wine or beer but give it a try and see if it helps. Most of us have tried a range of soft drinks to get over the habit of having glass in hand. Personally I like fizzy water when I'm out (or tap water or tea at home) as I haven't got a sweet tooth. Lime and soda is popular with many, then there's Vimto....

    Good luck and stick around!
I see what you're saying, the most important thing is to break the habit of having a wine glass in your hand! I haven't got a sweet tooth at all either, which is why I like very dry wine, so grape juice, etc, does nothing for me, but lime and soda is worth exploring :). I do like the idea of giving non alcoholic wine a go sometimes when I'm out and not drinking though

    Hi everyone.

Sorry I haven't posted for a while. Busy, busy (like everyone I guess) but I'll be back properly for 2011!

Miss P - have one of these from me :grouphug: Sorry to hear that, especially when reading your earlier post and you sounded so positive :( Texts are not a great way to communicate properly, so you could it may not be meant the way you have taken it (but it might:(). I know I've done that sort of thing to my GLW and it REALLY wasn't meant like that - I was just letting of steam at someone and I know it's wrong. Doing it to the most important person in the world to me is just madness:eek: But if it happens, and I realise, I do everything I can to make up for it so you may be in for a good evening after all:cool: (and yes, I know it doesn't make it right. I'm not trying to be a b****rd man - just an occasionally inconsiderate human)

HC - the GLW drinks alcohol free wine (she's not trying to cut down) and she likes it. Its Eisberg Rose she has, or supermarket own brand rose. She often has to ask whether the glass I've poured for her is AF wine of Jacobs Creek!:rotfl:

Well, I'll try and read back later and post a proper reply to everyone. No more AF days since my last post so I don't get my jumping smiley:( but its still been my most AF Dec for many, many years:cool:)

    Take care everyone.

Thanks, I'll look out for it. The Eisberg white was drinkable, but rose sounds better :)

Happy New Year to everyone, hope it's a good one :)
