Sometimes my OH waits because he can see I'm having a rough time and then just like you I finally feel a bit happy and then wham he hits me with it. But what I forget is he's been waiting to try and be considerate while I was ill/stressed at work or whatever.

And another one of these for Miss P :grouphug:

I've just discovered this great thread - there is so much support on this forum, it's wonderful
I haven't been able to read through all of it, and I wondered if anyone drank alcohol-free wine? I've bought a bottle of Eisberg to take to a New Year's Eve Party tonight, because I feel like I've had enough alcohol this Christmas, but I don't like soft drinks much
It was the only bottle they had in my Tesco, and I wondered what other people thought of it, or if they could recommend another, as it seems like it could be a good alternative in future to either drinking wine or ending up on water all evening!0 -
Morning all
I quite like NYEve, the thought of putting a lid on the old and moving forward into the new. We will be celebrating here tonight cos even though it wasn't the most stunning of years, we got through it in one piece
So, Happy New Year everyone and hope you get through tonight whichever way you see best. I will be sharing a bottle of fizzy white with DH at around midnight but apart from that the kettle will be on.
Here's to a good 2011 for us all xThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Hugs Miss P and anyone else that needs one. We've had a few tears here too this morning, after a stressful evening last night. Must be the end of the festive season getting to us.This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Quite a thought-provoking article by Virginia Ironside in the Indy today on why she gave up alcohol: http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/healthy-living/virginia-ironside-why-i-gave-up-alcohol-2172619.html
I am still a cutter-downer rather than giver-upper but I wonder if at some stage I will come to the same decision that she did. I already drink so much less than I did 2 years ago when I joined this thread. 60% of days AF in 2010 and v. moderate on most of the 40%.
Best wishes to all for 2011 and courage if you need it (not Dutch).

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: With all these huggies coming round it must be standing room only in your house!:rotfl:
Oh you poor love, how dare he dump on you like that:mad: It's so hard to rise above it and keep smiling but I''m sure he's reflecting (as we all do at this time of year) and this business with his DD (or somesuch) is getting to him. As the old song says 'You always hurt the one you love'. I'm sure that's true in this case. Try to just keep on being the excellent wife and mother that you are and he'll be full of apologies soon enough. I always find the moral high ground is the best place to be (although it can be a lonely place).0 -

Welcome HC. I don't think you'll get too many votes on here for non-alcoholic wine or beer but give it a try and see if it helps. Most of us have tried a range of soft drinks to get over the habit of having glass in hand. Personally I like fizzy water when I'm out (or tap water or tea at home) as I haven't got a sweet tooth. Lime and soda is popular with many, then there's Vimto....
Good luck and stick around!0 -
Thank you all for the hugs - I really needed them (even virtual ones are good
)
OH now being extra nice (as he usually is when he's really brought me down to earth with a bump!). I'm going to take your advice maman and take the moral high ground. Think thats the best policy. I don't think he's been at all fair and think it was a bit mean doing that to me today.
Anyhow...onwards and upwards. Is it the new year yet!?

Hi everyone.
Sorry I haven't posted for a while. Busy, busy (like everyone I guess) but I'll be back properly for 2011!
Miss P - have one of these from me :grouphug: Sorry to hear that, especially when reading your earlier post and you sounded so positiveTexts are not a great way to communicate properly, so you could it may not be meant the way you have taken it (but it might:(). I know I've done that sort of thing to my GLW and it REALLY wasn't meant like that - I was just letting of steam at someone and I know it's wrong. Doing it to the most important person in the world to me is just madness:eek: But if it happens, and I realise, I do everything I can to make up for it so you may be in for a good evening after all:cool: (and yes, I know it doesn't make it right. I'm not trying to be a b****rd man - just an occasionally inconsiderate human)
HC - the GLW drinks alcohol free wine (she's not trying to cut down) and she likes it. Its Eisberg Rose she has, or supermarket own brand rose. She often has to ask whether the glass I've poured for her is AF wine of Jacobs Creek!:rotfl:
Well, I'll try and read back later and post a proper reply to everyone. No more AF days since my last post so I don't get my jumping smiley:( but its still been my most AF Dec for many, many years:cool:)
Take care everyone.Smoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general0
