  • HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY. Although I`ve had a wonderful Christmas due largely to being sober and having no regrets unlike previous years, I`m feeling particularly down today wondering in anticipation whats going to happen in the new year, wondering wether I`m going to manage staying sober, wondering wether I`m going to enjoy staying sober ? I think its because everybody around me seems to be getting ready to go out and party and I`m sitting in reminicing. I know I dont want to fall back into that horrible pattern of always thinking wether to have a drink or not or when to have a drink or not. At least when I`m not drinking all those nagging thoughts are not an issue.
    23 AF DAYS THANKS SHAGGY.

Does the empty feeling when you stop drinking ever go away ?

I wish for everybody`s new year resolutions to be fulfilled, good luck everybody xx

It only went for me when I changed myself......

My self-pity, anxiety, neuroses, and selfishness were still there when I put down the drink.
Booze was the escape from my head and my problems.
I had to change myself to live a full and happy life.

Everything felt flat on social occasions when I wasn't drinking. The only way to rid myself of that feeling was for me to either drink or change. Drink stopped working, thus change was necessary.

  • oh I have just had the best new year present ever.... sorry I'm rambling tonight ... DH has just told his best friend that he is going to give up the booze too. We might be a narky, miserable bunch this coming month but that is something I could only dream for.

Well, my lovelies, it's been a long time.

I'm sorry I went AWOL. I needed to focus on my life in the here & now for awhile.

Things have been very up & down but I like to think I am now getting back to an even keel. I feel more myself than I have done in ages.

So here's to sending away 2010 & welcoming 2011. I don't how much I'll be on here but believe me when I say I think of you all often & the things I've learnt on here help me every day.

    muchos bearhugs
    xx

And Happy New Year and muchos bearhugs to you!!!

So good to hear from you, don't be a stranger in 2011.
