  • Hugs to everyone who needs them today. Can't really add anything that doesn't sound patronising, but please be kind to yourselves x Its a funny ole time of year for this sort of thing.

Thank you Pen, i guess my only saving grace is the fact that scloer stuff mixed with tonic or fizzy water seems to be a good substitute, esp if served in a wine glass. So even though most days i'm not drunk, i'm not exactly alcohol free either.

I guess the fact that i'm mummy means i have to stay within certain limits and be in control, but its not where i'd like to be. So far my kids haven't noticed, I guess they are too young and i'd prefer it to stay that way, i'm too ashamed.

I ditto Pen's comments. You can only try, and then pick yourself up and try again. I just try and remember my last AF morning, how I felt, and try and make myself want that feeling so much more than a drink.

It's that and my targets that are helping me at the moment.

December was always going to be harder than normal (in my mind anyway_ so any cutting-down is a bonus which can be bettered next month.

Hugs to those feeling down and you've always got hope.:)
Smoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general :p

I managed my two days last week but since then haven't been.

So unfortunatley I'm in the same camp as CazzaMazza and can't find the zone again. Part of me doesn't even want to try. Finding life stressful with ED too, so my days are intermittent with alcohol and bulimia. I'm a nightmare.

Just caught a news clip about male eating disorders and the end said anyone with one should consult their GP.

Is someone trying to tell me something??

Why can't I get a grip, my two addictions aren't making me happy at all, yet i need them.

Well done to those who have continued to have AF days and inspire me. Hoping to get back on track just not sure when or how.

    I thought that for years.
I thought I was weak and rubbish.

But I was dealing with an alcohol addiction. Alcoholism.
The more I tried to control it, the more out of control it got.

When I tried to get a grip, I lost control even more!

When I surrendered to it, and started admitting I was ill, I had an illness, and really wanted help for it, that's when I could put the drink down.
I cannot conquer alcoholism by myself. I tried and it kicked my !!!!!.

What I found helpful was trying something different. Getting help. Being honest. Admitting to another person face-to-face (not over the internet) about my problems.

    Good luck
