  • Morning folks!

Bah humbug I had a drink last night - so much for my 11 day AF plan, grrrrr. It wasn't even a little drink either, as I sank 2 bottles of white wine.

So mad with myself today and I'm not feeling great - slight hangover, yak.

Well all weekend I WILL be AF. Am off to my friend's tonight for dinner and I am driving there and I am out tomorrow evening after work, but again, driving so can stay on the softs.

Sunday evening might be a wobbly one, so I will pop on here for a bit and see if I can organise some things to occupy my evening so I don't reach for the bottle.

    Have a great day everyone.

Just wondering if i can join the thread ? I am trying to cut down on the drinking at home which isn't that easy in this weather x I have only had 3 AF days this month (including last night) and Im aiming for 15... So I really think I can do with some help from you kind people x

My weakness is 9 o'clock and saying yes to a long vodka and cranberry(which is expertly made by my husband), some nights its just the one other nights it can be 5 but i wish on the nights it was just one I'd have said NO!
This time last year I stopped drinking Aug to Dec without thinking about it but this year it has crept back in and is becoming more of the norm than a treat at the weekend x

So some help with my willpower may be needed x thanks in advance

  • Good morning all!

    Shoppy - welcome back.

Jo - well done! Knew you could do it :)

Bearacus - welcome to the thread. You'll find us a very supportive bunch.

Cazza - you know the drill...pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start again. Brand new day today.

    8 for me please Shaggy

Last night didn't fancy a drink at all. My asthma seems to be flaring up quite badly (usually only get it when I've had a bug or something...at the moment its waking me up at night :() which puts me off having a drink. Bad enough trying to catch your breath without coping with a banging head as well.:o Hopefully it'll die down again soon.

Very glad its Friday. Two weeks time it'll be christmas Eve!:xmastree:
Piglet getting very excited - keeps trying to add new things to his christmas list for Santa!!!

  • 7 AFDs for me, please, Shaggy, thanks - sorry, haven't had chance to count and post until now!

No white wine in house so not buying any today, despite soon needing to go to heaving T8sco wonderland soon. I'll allow myself my usual wine tomorrow evening.

    Have a good Friday everybody.

Lovely to hear about Molly taking her little baby grandson shopping, how wonderful!!

  • Hi everybody

I'm still doing ok af wise. It's perishing cold here and odds and ends of snow are still lingering. Had my stitches removed yerterday, the consultant was very pleased with his work. I can honestly say I don't feel any different to I did pre - op.

Jo welcome back and well done for climbing back onto the wagon.

Welcome to any newbies, I hope you find the support you are looking for.

  • Afternoon all,

Yippee it's Friday :j.......and just 2 weeks until the big man comes a visiting!!!

Bearacus- You've made me feel quite rude as I didn't even ask if I could join, I just bowled in and started ranting...apolologies for bad manners everyone!!
Anyway, I am sure you will find this thread very helpfull and motivating....the nice thing is that we are all in the same, or similar boats and are all rooting for eachother. Personally, I find the support from a bunch of complete strangers extremely humbling, it makes you realise how many good people there are out there.....even if we do like our wine or beer or harvey wallbangers aplenty!!!

Shaggy-I would love a :rudolf:too but think I can only manage 10 or 11 AF's this side of Christmas unless we can earn "double bubble" for the weekend's!! Never say never although and good luck to you....also thanks again for all your efforts.

Cazz-Just a wee hitch.....simply hop back aboard and hold on tight for the weekend. PS... I also think that Sundays should be re-named Wobbleday :rotfl::rotfl:

Jo-Funny how you miss people when they don't clock in for a few days, hope you are ok and well done for your past 2 AF days :T

Miss P- Hope Piglet's Nativity went well and you remembered your tissues...Am with you on the Christmas list thing, my youngest keeps adding to his to and his last request was a baby brother:eek:!!Hope you feel better soon.

Everyone else, just sending a great big :grouphug: (Oooops does this look a bit rude or is it just me!!) group hug to anyone that needs one....

That was pretty much what I came to say. Made my target in November and haven't been AF since :( I've just lost the motivation somehow. I have been here so many times before, but it still scares me how confident I can be that I'm on the right track to AFness and then instantly back to regular heavy drinking.

It is a bit pervy looking, but well meant. Just think it's keeping you warm instead (seems you need it especially RN)

Welcome all newbies. I think it's admirable that people are joining before Christmas. It's a great idea to get a few AF days in for December, helps balance all the festivities.

bearacus, I'd say that 9pm is commendably late in the evening to be having your first drink (most of us find it hard to wait until 6pm:o). If you can get that far then it shouldn't be too difficult to have an AF day. I'd suggest getting your DH on board and then having a bath, early night or whatever it takes to say no. You don't have to set a target if you don't want to but try clocking up one and then adding to it!

If anyones offering, I need a huge hug. My Mums been taken into hospital. She had an angiogram this morning, suffered pain during it and they've found she has narrowing heart valves. They are operating Monday to put stents in. She had major heart attack xmas day 2000 and we nearly lost her, so this is really shaking me up.

Holding it together at moment for Piglets sake. I know its probably a really common procedure but anything to do with my Mum scares the hell out of me.:(

Sat here now waiting for OH to finish work so I can go up and see her.
