Hello sim, sorry to hear the bad news. I agree you need to do all you can to keep this job. Try and have a good day tomorrow with your mate and get yourself as organised as possible for your shift. Can you/she go down and get your prescriptoin? You'll manage for food, agree with Sammy that pasta and veg and something for some sauce (cheap passata in Asda about 25p) will fill you up healthily plus some milk and cereal (porage if you like it) for breakfast and some eggs (very versatile for any meal).

So glad you posted, we'll help but you'll help yourself. Sim is on the way back up!!!!:)

    Morning everyone.

Must be very quick - I've got a freezing car to sort out.

    Welcome to the new posters!

Sim - I've been thinking of you all night and thanking my lucky stars I got through it ok. I know this doesn't help you out, but I just wanted you to know that, despite what it feels now, you can and WILL get through it, and you can achieve your goals!:T:T Good luck for the next few days.

Shaggy and Pen, another AFD please! That's 3 for Dec, and two AFDs in a row - a first for many years!:D That's down to your challenge Pen:T and Maman's dare:p:p Thank you both.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
  • Morning all

Sim - hoping you are ok today. Wise words from our GC as usual.

Diagonalman - welcome to the thread :)

Shaggy - 6 for me please

Markman - well done on the 2 AF days in the row!:T

Chilly here again today, but luckily car not frozen over this morning. Was quite proud of myself last night. Just settled down to watch Corrie (don't normally watch it, but I do love a good disaster :D) and OH offered me a coffee and then said "or something stronger??". We'd had a bit of an evening up to that point (unemployed lazy stepdaughter problems!!!:rotfl:) so it was very tempting. But I said No. Mainly cos I was freezing, I have to say, and the coffee sounded good! But still chuffed. So another AF day under my belt. Feeling positive for December. :)

  • Hi Sim and all,

Just wrote a massive message and lost it!! So annoyed, basically just to say hugs to SIM and a bit of my story. I struggled for two years to change/cut down my drinking and always failed only when I accepted I was an alcoholic and could never drink successfully (I was very good at drinking unsuccessfully cause chaos and carnage, getting arrested for drink driving, hurting people, be abusive and violent etc).

When I gave up all notion that I could drink again, things changed, I started to change but I had to do things differently. I couldn't hang around with drinking people or pubs, I had to make sobriety my priority in life, I started to attend AA, I prayed, (not to change gods opinion of me but to change my opinion of god). Before I stopped drinking, I slated AA, thought they were all judging me and talking about me when I slipped, this was so untrue, people were rooting for me to stay sober. I tried lots of meetings to find one I identified with, I struggled with the god thing but made it simple by looking at something bigger then me that caused me to drink and could then stop me drinking. I would even meet you if you are near Manchester.

I am 31 years old and could have had 20 more years of chaos but I have been given a lifeline and hope you can too SIM, I was always changing the way I drank, not drinking everyday, drinking only at weekends, but could never sustain it for long - 3 months at most and I was so so miserable. Today, im happy and at peace with myself I can be a mum, friend and daughter every day without exception.

    Hugs to you sim

so annoyed about loosing that last message!! It was so much better

  • 4/10 for me tonight please. :)

Going to give blood later (amazingly, they're still accepting it) so I can't have it tainted.

My willpower is almost non-existant, but I figure if I don't buy it, I can't drink it!

I identify with a lot that healthylifestyle has said on this thread.
  • Lots of lovely AFness tonight :T

    AF for me please Shaggy.
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.

  • Pen - could you put me down for 2 days for the challenge please.
    Thursday and Friday.

Not been AF since last Friday so must try harder. I'm embarrassed to post considering how well so many others are doing.

I've just been reading back and great to see some new folks joining.
Sim - hugs mate. Some great posts in response to yours and I really hope it is helping.

I've been so down recently I am wondering if it is my age and hormones (or lack of them!) I seem to be all over the place emotionally but not too bad for the last couple of days.
Still having counselling but not sure how much good it is doing to talk about alcohol problems with someone who really has no experience of it.

    Best wishes to all
