Jo, I'm doing cr*p this month too, i did so well last week and this week i've given in at the slightest opportunity. Thought today would be AF but i went to a children's birthday party held in a function room at a pub, the majority of adults were buying drinks and i was walking....... I should be able to say know, if it had been in a church hall serving hot drinks i wouldn't have thought otherwise. Now i've come home and carried on, so i'll probably sleep badly tonight.

Hello healthy lifestyle, i've only been here about 10 days or so, so still a newbie myself, but i do understand your position and desperation. Even though i did well in the beginning and not quite so well this week, being on here makes me WANT to keep trying, even though i've not managed it. Whereas before I would have tried, given up and not tried again.

I think Markman has the right attitude, slowly slowly catchy monkey, see Mark I knew what you meant. I think i'm trying to change OVERNIGHT and so setting myself up for failing. Maybe cutting back. I know Tues will definitely be AF as i have to drive evening time.

Take care all and have a lovely sunday evening.

I'm feeling a bit tearful now. I have no-one but myself to blame.

I had some bloods done recently, and am too scared to go back for the results.

Hi and welcome to the thread.

I would say, bite the bullet, get those results and then move on from there. Quite a few people on here have concerns for thier health, and thats why they start posting.

If its any consolation, I could easily drink 4 bottles of wine in two days (and frequently did). You are not alone. We all know where you're coming from and, believe me, you will get a huge amount of support from this site.

    Good luck

    Well, evening all

    How are we all tonight?

Had a good day here. Took Piglet to a Christmas Tree Festival and he had a fab time decorating things for a tree. :)

Markman - you haven't failed. Tomorrow is a bright new day :)

Cuppa Tea - I must admit I find drinking in the day absolutely fatal. Like you, I would come home and keep going. I try not to have a drink till after 7pm now. Difficult though when you are unavoidably in a social situation where everyone else is drinking.:( Hope you sleep well tonight.

Must admit, sleep is one of the things that is disrupted on the nights I do have a drink. I never fail to marvel at people that say drink helps them sleep better. Nowadays I can guarantee I'll be awake at 3 and will sleep fitfully after that, waking numerous times during the night for a drink of water. Makes me wonder why I do it really!

Anyway, off to watch x factor. Was so pleased to see Stacey Soloman win I'm a celeb, now my weekend would be complete if Cher got voted off the x factor!!:D

    I will join you :D

So far no alcohol this month I am aiming to have 24 AF days in December.

    So 5/24 so far

DH still puts a glass of white wine beside me at dinner each evening but I haven't touched it.

    maman Another 1lb lost too!

That's commendable PB:T:T(both on the weightloss and ignoring the glass of wine). Our WI was cancelled this week due to the snow. I've been quite good but just had a huge roast dinner. Everything was SW friendly except the gravy (I must have proper HM gravy, feel it would be a waste of a lovely meal to pour that granule gravy over it).

I've got a busy week coming up with Christmas social events - a party, a lunch and dinner. Monday is the only 'ordinary' day. I'm going to try moderation - I may not add many days to my target but I'm not going to be silly either.

MissP is so right, there are loads of us on here who could have drunk 2 bottles of wine (or poison of choice) in a day. Of course you're scared HLS but as others have said you won't do your health any good by drinking to excess. Try really hard to achieve your AF night tonight, then call in the morning for your blood test results. Be positive!!!

MissP, I'm one of those strange people who sleeps better after a drink. What you say about 3 a.m. is exacty right (must be the amount of time it takes for the wine to wear off) but to go straight to sleep and sleep until then is a huge improvement on lying awake for an age which is what I do on AF nights.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

    • Make sure you have AF drinks to hand - fizzy water in the fridge, nice squash, plenty of milk for tea or coffee

    Don't forget hot chocolate :D
