Browse the thread for a few pages and there are plenty of ideas. What about trying to acheive one alcohol free day and take it from there??
Pen has a Sober Sunday challenge going (just keep alcohol free today) why not join that?
Once you have one day chalked up you can build from there.
Oh and welcome, you're in the right place:).0 -
See what this thread is doing to me, last week i'd have jumped in with both feet!!! THANK YOU.
Hi all,
Don't think it's actually this thread. It is you wanting to make the change.
That is the all-important difference.

Top tips for a sober Sunday ....
- Don't buy any booze
- Hide it in the shed if you have some in the house
- Make sure you have AF drinks to hand - fizzy water in the fridge, nice squash, plenty of milk for tea or coffee
- Have some nice cold water on hand to go with Sunday lunch
- Sort out a lovely pudding for afters
- Put the hot water on and have a bath early evening, then clean your teeth (wine and toothpaste don't mix)
- Do the ironing
- File paperwork / do the shredding
- Get those Christmas cards written

Hi all. Failed miserably today:( Weigh-in was bad too, despite being back at the gym. Anyone setting a Mon & Tues challenge - I give in too easily without a challenge:o
Welcome Healthylifestyle. It's not easy but I've found being on here and the challenges help soooo much.:) December is not an easy month but nor is any other - we can always find excuses/reasons in any month. Just be gentle on yourself - slowly, slowly catchy monkey (whatever that means) On the pains, ditto. Get to the doc, get your fears allayed and then try and cut down - worrying just makes it easier to use alcohol to take your mind off the worries. I thought I was about to die when I found this thread - seriously:eek:!
Well done to all you AF'ers. I'm going to be AF tomorrow if it kills me! There, its on the forum now so I'm going to do it....:pSmoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general0 -
I was too, but when I thought I was staring death in the face, suddenly the embarrassment seemed ridiculous.
I laid there in bed, feeling like my chest was being pulled apart, silently crying and thinking how I'd wasted my life. An honest, teary, chat with the doctor and suddenly I came out walking on air - I still had time to sort it out and I really didn't want a drink.
And I'm trying.
Worrying makes it so much harder to stop drinking as that take away the worry - until the morning, when you feel even worse.
Maybe just keep posting, give it a go slowly and see how things go. We're all here for you.:)Smoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general0
