The Giving Up/Cutting Down Alcohol Support Thread - Numero 9!

Intersting points have been made on both sides and I do feel that people should be able to air their opinions truthfully and maybe not to everyones liking but we should be able to discuss these things freely and take on everyones views.
I also defend peoples rights to disagree with certain things if they do not feel the same way
There you go..........Nicely sat on the Fence0 -
I'm finding this all too stressful on here tonight, its making me feel low and I don't want anything to discourage my AF evening.
Hope everyone gets on ok with the challenge, I promise to update the score board when I get to work in the morning
Nite all xThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
I can't really explain what I want to say, I keep trying but the words aren't coming. Maybe this thread has served it's purpose for me now. Maybe it's time for other people to realise for themselves how destructive their drinking is. Maybe it is the place to discuss menu's and gloss over the fact that someone really trying to stop is carrying on. Maybe it can be long on hand holding and there there never minds and short on tough love.
Maybe people will read this and think 'Oh here she goes again' but I don't care. It's what I think.
I had leek crumble and cold roast chicken for dinner;)
Dinner sounds nice!
You're very right about alot of things - and the highlighted statement especially.
People can only effect change themselves, we can be concerned, an ear, offer support (tough or otherwise) and be there the next day between us all through the thread when people stumble.
We're all cutting down............
- some have cut down to their own comfortable limit
- others have completely cut down because they dont have a comortable limit
I admire those who've completely stopped drinking, I admire those cutting down and anyone lurking/reading/thinking about their relationship with alcohol.
Maybe the thread needs to be renamed the 'cutting down' thread, it unites us all?
I can understand why meeting in a pub might make some folk nervous and if it bothers anyone then perhaps they might want to just come to the curry house (bear in mind the restaurant is also licenced) - personally it doesn't bother me I'm coming along to meet you all and hopefully strengthen some friendships.I'm trying to be completely AF, having the same battles we all are day by day - some days big battles some days not so big. Now and again I whoop about it, now and againI'm more quiet - whatever I am folks are here for me if/when I need. I appreciate that.
The only person that can change me is me, if I chose to drink or not drink of an evening - the only person that can do that is me. One day at a time.
I like that you're all there - but I'm the only one that can change me - its the same for everyone else here.
I'd love to meet up with folks for a get together - I don't think anyone wants to offend/upset/annoy anyone by doing it.
I think that we can only really listen when we can, chat, pop in, brain dump when needed and off load when we can.
I don't have a fence (crap balance), but I like debate without anyone feeling offended.

My boss not in until tomorrow. Told big boss and HR today.
DD in bed without too much trouble. We bought this cushion some time ago and when I am losing the battle with her I ask if she would like to go and sit on in for 5 minutes. Works every time. Completely unused cushion but the presence of it is magic.
There is so much I should be doing and I am not doing anything. Feeling very cross with myself. Perhaps I should drag my filing into the sitting room and then get organised while watching telly (I need to find my rental agreement). Might have a cup of tea first..."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

I'm sorry Dundeegirl that you feel you have to leave.
However, the events of the last few days have made my mind up for me too. I'm leaving the thread permanantly. I have made very good friends who I know I will keep in contact with outside this thread.
I just don't feel I wish to be part of this any more.
I will miss some of you dreadfully as you very politely listen to my ramblings:).
Take care
Miss P
