Have been AWOL for a few days my internet is playing up and it's driving me mad
Shaggy 5 AFD's for me please. Not where I wanted to be but better than the last I don't know how many months.
Hugs ((( )))to those who need one and well done to those who are where they want to be0 -
4 weeks ago I had been DAILY drinking 6 cans of stella, 1 or 2 cans of guinness and unmeasured swigs from a bottle of vodka, in secret and all between 6pm - 10pm, never less than that, couldn't survive on less than that. The frightening thing is that there are 4 other people in this house and not one person commented on my behaviour, my OH never noticed that I'd been drinking, that is shocking. /QUOTE]
This could be me to... Monday night OH said he was really surprised that I hadn't got a bottle of wine (I had a bad day) I didn't correct him and say yes dear I have already drunk it, you were just elsewhere at the time
On the other hand they are well aware of my inability to control my drinking when they see it iykwim, its just that sometimes I manage to hide it better than others
Anyhooo since Monday I have been sober and today well I hope this will be a sober one too.0 -

GO FOR IT MARI , you can do it, the first 3 days are the hardest then it gets easier then you start really enjoying the extra time and energy that being sober brings.

I find I have to commit to things which at the time I don't want to do, but I actually enjoy in the end. Bit of battle though sometimes....
I think complacency is the biggest killer of non-drinking alcoholics. When we put down the drink our lives improve dramatically, then it is so easy to get complacent and comfortable again, and before we know it, we are drinking.
I find coming on here and reading the on going struggles of people still gripped by booze helps me from becoming complacent.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I had the most awfull night last night, me and OH had a MASSIVE row, I hate argueing. Infact I usually let him rant and rant, I say nothing and then get drunk.
Last night I went crazy, I was shouting, swearing and crying. I totally lost the plot.
Believe it or not we were argueing over Taco's. He refused to eat the ones I was was cooking because I didnt cook the onion before the mince, it was a ridiculous row. But I cant believe how I reacted.
I think it was lots of bottled up emotions.
I didnt have a drink last night, strangely I didnt even want one!
I have decided that I want to stop drinking alcohol starting from today, I'm going to take things one day at a time.£100 - £10,0000 -
Hugs Miamoo, good luck. Sometimes its good to have an outburst

It's funny how something can make the decision for us. I stopped after a major fall out with a good friend. I caught myself thinking I could drink myself stupid and block out these enmotions or I could be grown up and deal with them.
For me, generally, I am far more evenly balanced now I don't drink. I have my moments still but that usually means that something else in my life is out of line. When you drink it's easy to go from one numb evening to the next, never really 'feeling' anything.
Good luck with your decision to stop. And well done.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Miamoo - does sound like it was emotions being let out that had been bottled up. Lots of ((hugs)) and good luck with your decision to be AF
