  • Our younger cat is very twitchy with all the fireworks noise, but our old lady (nearly 19) is deaf. She looks at the younger one with a very superior look and wonders what the fuss is about :)

Pen please put me down for a one-day challenge for tomorrow

    Night all x

When I first joined you all back in January, I wanted to cut down my drinking abit, I knew it was getting abit crazy, Graeme talked of alcoholism and I freaked out to be honest. Dont get me wrong he never said that in relation to me, just in general.
I am so confused at the moment, because I have had a realisation that I dont have a normal relationship with alcohol.
I used to have. I used to drink or not drink with not much thought for either. But now I have to make an effort to not drink.
Its not a hard effort, I can do it. BUT I have to try everysingle day.
Everyday I have to say, 'I am not drinking tonight' I make a conscious effort to avoid the shop etc.
It didnt used to be like this.
I think if I carry on drinking as I do, carrying on without thinking about it, I will have a serious problem. If I havent already.

    Hi Miamoo

I was just like this....I knew I had to do something but it was so hard to get to grips with. The main thing is that you are thinking about it & your inner voice is starting to recognise it & you are starting to work on the practicalities of cutting down....well done.

I stopped many times over the years & always reached back for the bottle at times of stress (that was my trigger) ..... I had started to feel bad about my drinking last year & almost having a battle of concience between buy a bottle or not. I won in the end & have not touched a drop since 28th Aig 2009....the fact that I still remind myself of the date is clear to me that I am not `out of the woods` just yet & I need to keep reminding myself of it....daily sometimes.

Good luck....take a day at a time...an hour at a time if needs be & even cutting out one drink a day is cutting down & will make a difference.

    Morning all

3 weeks sober for me today, a whole 21 days :j

Starting to feel good, sleeping fantasically and have had a couple of people at work comment that I look well :)

Bells have been completely non-existent for most of this week, although I cannot become complacent cos they could strike at anytime.

Brilliant Jo....keep up the great work & feeling good is a great feeling isn`t it:D
