Why are you clicking 'ok'? There is no option to do so. You right click on the file and choose 'Extract here'. There is no OK involved.

i was doing that, i was only clicking ok to the error message screen- which for some reason caused word to open and display ANOTHER error message....

your link worked though - thankyou - though i seem unable to get it connected. 'the device has been disconnected or is unavailable'

Are the drivers installed in the Device Manager? Have you stopped the Orange software from starting with Windows?

If the problem still persists after a reboot, uninstall Mobile Partner. Place the modem back into the PC and allow it to install Drivers(Device is ready to use). This time install Mobile Partner with the modem attached to the Netbook.

The reason why I suggested without the first time, was just in case you made a mistake and installed the firmware instead. I didn't want to take that chance. :)

yes i think the required drivers are in device manager...

shows no yellow triangles and the dongle shows up under cd drives, disc drives and as a storage device.

Clicking on the device will also tell you if it is working properly.

Yes, says working properly, it has always said so, one of the first things I looked at when it was left for me to look at.
Any ideas on my startup question?

This was supposed to have been done since post #8. :D
