I’ve been in touch with the London and England squatting scene for 35 years and I also know some Euro squatters from Germany, France etc. None of the squatters that I know and have known would ever consider breaking into someone’s house while they’re in residence or about to move in. Or gone out for the day or weekend. Or doing up their place. When they scope places they always decide that ones with residents aren’t available for cracking.

I have no sympathy with any squatters who attempt to occupy somebody's house who has just popped out to the shops or is away on holiday. However, round here, there are loads of really large houses that are empty long-term. Effectively, they are building sites awaiting development. If you look on this linky, no. 45 has been empty for years (apart from when it was squatted). http://www.hgs.org.uk/mystreet/winnington%20road/

There are quite a few other houses on that road that are awaiting development and have been for ages and ages. I'd never be in favour of squatting an occupied house, but one that's just going to be bulldozed anyway? Maybe yes.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

someone i met last year at one of the festivals said by next year squatting will be illegal over here, and like she said to me theres more squatters than the government realise and what are they going to do but make them homeless. But then I think Boris Johnson wants homeless to be illegal by 2012, so i hope they will be sorting things out pronto to house everyone (who should be housed regardless.....)

^ Good. The smelly scum should work to buy their homes and not steal the homes from people who have worked to buy theirs.

I can't believe that someone can enter your home and occupy it and then you have to spend weeks if not months to evict them. The law should be on the side of the homeowner and not the feral scum who steal other peoples properties.
Everyone is entitled to my opinion!
