New caravan falling to bits and the sellers aren't interested

It hasn't been established why the wheel off, It seems it is up to me to prove why it fell off by getting some expert advice on the matter.
All 5 wheelnuts were found literally in a pile probably 2 foot between them a few yards up the road from where we pulled over.
The wheel nuts to look at have had their thread flattened from front to back and look more like nails, I still have them.
Luckily a guy behind us who saw the wheel fall off and lived nearby came back later with some spare nuts (as he owned a caravan too) and I was able to apply these and eventually continue with our booked holiday.
I am no engineer but as I have stated before it was as if the wheel had been pulled from the caravan in one mighty tug.
Is there anyone on here who has experience in this sort of thing?
I can post photos if anyone is interested.
Thanks
Mark
A wheel NUT cannot possibly look like a nail!
Either your expressing yourself very badly, or none of this rings true - either way if you have some photos now is the time to share them.0 -

Over exaggeration yes.
It is my way of saying there are no threads left on some of the wheelnuts and a half to a third of half decent thread on others, they are mainly smooth.
Photos will be posted tomorrow as I am off out shortly.0 -

Why am I not surprised the Op has neither bothered to post the photos nor respond...................:(0 -

Mind you he did say the response from the finance company would take 10 daysRang the finance company earlier today as I had my emails bounce back as undeliverable.
They had only given me the wrong address.
They gave a different one and I resent them the complaint, this time I got an automated reply saying they had received it and will respond as soon as possible up to 10 days.0 -
Yep, and he also said he would post the photos "tomorrow" which was the 26th - last Sunday.0

:rotfl:
Sorry but I do have other things to do besides sitting at my PC all day.
I did say I would post the photos and still will if anyone insists but they aren't that great.
I also said I would keep the post updated and here are the last 3 emails from and to Robinsons.

Goof Afternoon Mr.#################
Further to your email enquiry last week and your question regarding who received the cash deposit that you paid on the caravan, I can confirm that the money would have gone to Robinsons Caravans.
Also, having spoken to David Robinson on the matter, he had two comments to add.
Firstly, he suggested that whilst you have not had your caravan serviced so far this year, if you have the caravan serviced now and then have subsequent services carried out in line with the anniversary of your original purchase date (30 March 2009), he feels sure that Lunar would support us with a warranty claim for any of your other items which may be covered under warranty.
Secondly, he doesn’t accept the wheel coming off your caravan is down to a manufacturing defect. He would suggest that you speak again to your Insurance Company as he cannot understand why they wouldn’t cover it. If you want us to give you an up-to-date estimate to submit to them, please let us know.
Should you decide that you want to book the caravan in for a service, please contact me and I will check when the available time slots are in the near future.
Regards

Hi ######################,
Thank you for this offer, if the wheel spat and rear spoiler where also sorted I would agree now.
It isn’t that the Insurance company wouldn’t cover us they just wanted to know why it wasn’t covered by the warranty as we enquired about the cost while it was still under warranty.
I would like a few more days to consider your offer as I have contacted Black Horse last Tuesday but they gave me the wrong email address so I contacted them again last Saturday and this time they gave me the correct address as I received an automated response from them but it could be up to 10 days before I hear from them.
I am down to a shortlist of engineering experts who are confident of proving the wheel nuts or nut could have been at fault (because I still have them) but they have only seen photos so far.
But they also would like to examine the van because they believe the only three ways it could happen is if the wheel nuts were faulty, over tightened or the van was involved in accident which I am 200% certain will not be the case.
But this is going to be quite expensive so I am also in the process of looking at how to retrieve the costs back.
So if you can give me two weeks maximum (bearing in mind I will let you know as soon as possible as I receive any more information on the matter) on your offer please let me know as I also have an appointment at the Citizens Advice Bureau on Friday afternoon.
If you Cc my emails to ############### I can also read and respond while working.
Thanks
Mark

Hi ######################
Further to your email, I feel I should clarify that if you wish to have your caravan serviced the discounted price as a Robinsons customer would be £206.80 which includes vat and labour for a single axle caravan. As David Robinson said, he is pretty confident that if you had your caravan serviced in the very near future then this would help when we submit your warrant claim for your other issues but would ask you to remember that the longer the reply takes the more difficult it will be for us to persuade Lunar to support the claim. Also to reiterate, all subsequent services would need to be carried out at the time of the anniversary of the purchase date of the van (ie. 30th March each year).
Will await your response.
Regards

It seems to me they are now being a little more helpful, if only they would go that extra inch I would be happy to have the van serviced tomorrow and get it sorted.
It's the first time I have had an email starting with a Hi and my first name.
I am still not sure if the "other issues" quote in the 3rd email means the lights etc. or the whole hog :undecided
But until they confirm they will sort everything upon service I am holding out until I at least hear from the finance company, which hasn't happened yet.
I will obviously hear from them on the 10th day.
And I am still unsure if she purposely called me a Goof in the first one LOL.0 -
is the rear the bit that was to be painted or is the spoiler soemthing different0

No, it was the gas bottle lid at the front that needs filling and painting properly.
They said we can still have this done but I haven't rung him yet as I am waiting to see what happens with the rest.
The rear sill and wheel spat are the bits damaged by the wheel.0
