just had a 20min call from hugh Patterson. He is to put a clear message on the following v21 info site

stating that those with a a v21 account will NOT have their contracts altered - a customer can choose to start a new contract on bicuits terms or the old v21 contract will remain as it is - none of this scaremongery 14 days then you will default to a new £70 + £35 charge etc etc.

I said that from what I see , v21 flock is like a massive huddle of sheep quivering not knowing whether to jump or wait and that it seems a shame that for just a few clear precise words we could all settle down.

I said that human nature is suspicion of a new ceo but he is missing an opportunity of gaining our trust - hopefully tonight those words will set a clear agenda and prevent people needlessly jumping ship.

I had a lengthy phone call yesterday from someone at Biscit, he told me they couldn't migrate me at the moment because the suppliers were refusing to cancel accounts or give out MACs. Today, Hugh emailed someone else who questioned him on the subject, saying he doubted any member of his staff would say that. I think any suspicion that we have is justified, and I'm glad I have proof of receipt of my cancellation, because I am leaving as soon as is humanly possible.
  • Is it just me? Now that I'm in the process of moving to Primus Broadband I'm not having any connection problems!

Obviously still unable to cancel dial up (which I will keep until broadband fuly connected) but will just stop paying and hope they cut me off!

Don't hold your breath, but I'm logged in for the first time since last Thursday. Just lucky, I suppose. Time will tell.

you cannot just stop your payments because you will be breaking your terms&conditions (read them)
You will be hit by a £80 charge which will cause you big probs because they have the right to do that, unless you cancel via accepted means, and the only way to cancel right now is by writing registered letters to V21 and Biscit.
The member's portal will probably come back at some stage, but will it have a cancel button?
    who knows!!

All the member's panel showed before was *Page cannot be Displayed*
    Now it shows this
Sorry, this system is currently offline for essential maintenance. Please try later.

    Any inconvenience is regretted.
So perhaps they read my letter ;)

Are you getting anything back from them, in terms of compensation, for being unable to connect for so long?

Just read my Fast4 T&C`s (who I signed up with 3 years ago)and can`t see anything about a £80 charge.
I never asked or was given the choice of switching to V21/Biscit so I can`t see as they can enforce ant payment.
Further more if you pay by DD,how are they going to get their £80.
  • I only signed up to Fast4 dial-up a few months back, so i was quoting my terms:-
7.2 If you terminate without notice or cause us to terminate in accordance with our rights in these terms, fees will be due until the date that termination would have been effective had proper notice been served. No part month payments or refunds will be entered into at any time. You undertake not to withdraw authority to debit your credit card for fees due in respect of any notice period. You acknowledge therefore that withdrawal of your authority for the card to be debited or any attempt to persuade your credit card service provider to charge back any monies debited lawfully under these terms will be treated as the criminal offence of fraud and carries a standard administration fee of eighty pounds (£80).
But you're right, your terms may be different, although i would be extremely surprised if Biscit didn't hit you with the charge.
Whether you pay via cc or dd is probably irrelevant if you break those terms. You will still be liable for charges!

My terms have not been updated/replaced in the correct manner either, so i will be enforcing my terms.

Did you read the bit about how your terms should be replaced/updated?

But i should say that i am cancelling, i now just want shot of the whole mess, so i wouldn't be expecting those terms to be maintained if i decided to stay.

    Regards

The big question is who has, so far, broken their own T&C`s by not providing a service.
F4 must have known they were going to be taken over and should have given each customer a choice (well in advance)about staying or leaving.
I still fail to see how they can get £80 from you short of taking you to court (with plenty of egg on their faces) if you pay by DD.
  • No, they have not broken their own T&Cs because there are get-out clauses for the state of the service or using another provider.

Your T&Cs have probably not been replaced correctly either, so you can stick by your terms.
But if you are thinking of staying, then a statement is really needed to be posted on their website to clear up all the ambiguity.
They seem reluctant to do that because, i suspect, they will want to hit people with leaving charges in the future (just guessing)

But if you were considering cancelling, then now is the time to do it.
The member's panel is broken so you can't cancel via their preferred option, which just leaves sending registered letters to the addresses.

There can be no dispute that this method won't be accepted, as there is currently no other way.

You could wait and see what options you get when the member's panel finally springs to life, but i personally am not prepared to wait for that.
The way i see it is that the longer it is left, the messier it gets, unless a very clear statement is published on the websites, which i don't yet see,

    Regards
