Been busy today. Visiting relatives and took the two Pug puppies with us. Realised the break light was broken on one side and called into a garage to get a new one. The light still didn't work so OH thought it was something else causing the bulb not to work. Turned out the new bulb was just dud though (after visiting my brother who is good with cars).

My SIL was in the process of putting Sunday lunch out and it made me really hungry! Her daughter was visiting with her 10 week old chocolate labrador and he had a whale of a time playing with my 6 month old and my 10 week old Pugs! They all got on lovely, although he is the same size as my 6 month old! Its so nice to see different dogs getting on so well.

We're home now with our roast beef, yorkshire puds and roasts cooking and Im starving!!! Can't wait to tuck in. Pugs are fast asleep, absolutely tired out after all that playing! Going to make some syrup for fruit salad for DD1 to take to college with her tomorrow for pudding at lunchtime.

Well, my keema curry is simmering away, and the quince cobbler is cobbling in the oven and I have opened a bottle :D OH is still at work and won't be back for another hour:mad: It's not on for a Sunday, still not his fault.

The Thriftlings have been amusing themselves all day playing out with neighbour kids and cycling round the block (older ones that is) so it's been a stress-free day, and I have finally done the ironing. I've also given ds1 a lesson on how to operate the WM ;) I've done the lunch boxes and made my list for Tesco tomorrow, so I've had a productive day:)

Last episode of Jane Eyre on the telly tonight which me and OH (surprisingly) have been enjoying.
  • Hello everyone! I'm very new to this - but someone on the Flylady thread suggested I came here!

Today I've managed to wash all the gym kits (half term started on Friday), cook a roast dinner with HM pud and started on the Everest of ironing that 3 small children,1 dh and I make each week!

Looks like the only way to reach the summit is with Jane Eyre, white wine and chocolate. :rotfl:

Why is it that 3 children = much more work than 2 adults can ever do at any 1 time????

    Evening all!

    Welcome Ginger Girl! :D

SnowyOwl How did the carbooting go? guess what I've got for sale on my stall:confused: A pressure cooker!;) was given it and have never got round to using it(not brand new) didn't sell it today. If you can pick it up its yours!:D
Also bought loads of fruit at the bootie so no excuse for not eating healthily now is there!
I made about £30 and my DH made £150  selling his fishing gear as he's giving up, doesn't have time anymore and prefers to concentrate on his racing pigeons.

Jobs all done and am in my fleecy PJs waiting for Prime Suspect to start.

    Have a good evening all!

    xx

Oh Taplady you tease!!! The carboot was a waste of time...I had one of those days when I just wanted to run home and hide. The upshot is that I didn't spend a penny, and tbh hardly looked at anything. I can't believe you are selling a pressure cooker - what a coincidence! I'm on the other side of the Irish Sea, otherwise I'd have been in the car and half way to you by now. Thank you for your offer though, that is lovely of you! I am very disappointed to say that it is impossible for me to accept...

Oddly, I was just thinking of you when I was logging in. I wanted to tell you about my cranberry cinnamon bran muffins which I have just taken out of the oven. They didn't rise very much. I am a very very bad Old Styler today....the recipe required some bicarb of soda...but I had none in. I didn't discover this until the crucial moment of adding it to the mix. In the end I chucked in some cream of tarter and some baking powder, but the muffins don't seem to have risen at all. I'm going to try one shortly, once they have cooled, but I think I may have wasted all those ingredients...

Otherwise old style today I have been a mad woman with the vacuum cleaner. I've also had attempt number two at making some yoghurt - it's in the hot press, should be ready by about midnight - I hope this batch works. In the meantime I'm going to get on with some more housework while I am in the mood, maybe do a 27 fling boogie (except I do them quietly, no music)...and try and fill the bag I am sending to the charity shop.

    Big welcome to Ginger Girl...hello!!!

See you all later folks, have a great night.

EEk!, missing Jane Eyre. Thank goodness for teleport rewatching programmes thingy.

    I DID IT ALL!
Oh no, I forgot, I changed my mind about the rosehips. Last time I made syrup it went mouldy in the fridge. I accompanied DH to the hospital to show his friend C the D (Caley the Dog), and a good job too, as they'd grounded him... he'd damaged himself in his wheelchair, and is laid up again. So we couldn't take C the D in to see him, so I stayed in the car with him, and listened to Gardener's Question Time, while DH went in.

The chicken thing was a bit poor, but the rest of dinner, inc. Pa I.L.'s Leeks was good, and the apple sponge (not crumble in the end) was really good.

Well, it wasn't such a big fib after all, and I feel good about doing all of those jobs, so thanks everyone, this thread is an excellent motivator.

    Good evening all....

Shame about the pressure cooker;) as for the muffins - an oldstyler with no bicarb:eek:   :D must have been the magic ingredient, mine rise but not as big as choccy muffins, hope they taste ok though. A friend of mine makes them and just chucks it all in but hers come out rather heavy:rolleyes: so I always try and follow the recipe.

    take care all!

  • "Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 17/10/06. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well."

Good morning to you all - my first time of starting off the thread. To be honest i am not normally up. Today is likely to be a special day for me. My waters have just broken, though no contractions yet, so perhaps little pud will be joining us today. Who knows.

rang the hospital up but they weren't excited, and it isn't worth waking DH up at the moment, so i have to share somewhere.

Don't know if i will post tomorrow or not, but will get DH to email when the happy event occurs if i cannot.

    See you all soon.

    OHMIGOD!!!!!

    Eeek Michelle !!!!

Good luck...I hope it goes really really well (and fast, take the drugs...) and that your little baby is perfect, happy and healthy.

Now please go and kick your OH's ar*e and tell him to find the car keys!!!

Best of luck...can't wait to hear your happy news!!

  • I'm glad your excited for me snowy, but the hospital don't want to see me yet as there aren't any contractions. I have to go to the ultrasound place by 1:30 tomorrow to check he's alright if there is still nothing, and then they may leave me up to 72 hours to start labour naturally before inducing me if he is happy, which he normally is.

Currently have the wm going with my PJS and dressing gown. Will see how i go. DH just got up to see how i was but he can't really do anything for me at this stage, so i sent him back to bed as one of us at least needs some sleep. I'm far too excited.

It's not blooming old style though as i had been to the supermarket yesterday and spent £15 on veggies that i may not get to use. Oh well.

    Hugs everyone.
