You will only be able to get a basic bank account at first anyway, so no overdrafts, or credit deals.. As such, it is difficult to run it badly. You can of cuorse, build up some savings and show a residual income each month, which may give you some sway with the bank where the account is at, but beyond that it won't give you much credit.
I think it improves if you have direct debits, and smaller items like a contract mobile, etc. Really the best way to improve it is to make sure that when you are discharged, that all your debts are marked as satisfied and not marked as 'default'.matched betting: £879.63

On a different note - has anyone here cleared up their credit files? I want to do this, but I need proof of my discharge to send to creditors so they can then correct my file.
Unfortunately, I don't have any proof as such, that I've been discharged, as my details are no longer stored online and the OR never sent me a letter saying I had been discharged. A certificate costs £60! Has anyone tried writing with a request under the Freedom Of Information Act, requestig the details they have on you, including discharge dates? I would imaigne they have an obligation to supply this under the FOIA, or do they have a loophole to avoid it? Then it would only be £2, rather than £60! I'm thinking of giving it a go and writing a letter, but was wondering if anyone else knows of any other options.matched betting: £879.63

Hi all.
I'm currently in the process of trying to start a DMP but one of my creditors is Northern Rock who appear to have a bad rep when it comes to people not being able to pay their repayments - it's either Bankruptcy or nothing.
I was scared of this to begin with and just wanted to get on with my DMP but now I think about it I'm beginning to see Bankruptcy as a genuine option, especially as if in this case one of my creditors make me Bankrupt and I don't have to pay to start it off.
One thing worries me though - I don't have any of the usual assets: car, house etc. I only have my Computer, PS2, DVDs and CDs the usual boy toys. Would these be seized if I go Bankrupt? I can't lose my computer, I'd be losing the ability to get work and other financial benefits.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks,

You can be surprised. I got to keep my Lloyds acount with full debit card and cq book. However I have no debt with them at all.0

I tell ya I seriously wonder what the point of continuning is sometimes. Im trying so hard to sort this mess of a pathetic existance out but My OH just don't get it. today after spending £110 this week in the pub had a right go this morning cos he aint got enough to buy some fags and a paper ??? now ive felt guilty for the rest of the morning.
Im sick and tired(very very tired) of it all.
I love him so much but I really dont know why? only a feeling there is no logic to it what so ever. Im so fed up now. My life will never change and I am way to tired to fight it anymore.
sorry don't know who else to tell think I just talking to myself really.

Hi,
I recently got a copy of my credit report from Experian, it's got my bankruptcy on it and my discharge date of 04/05. All the creditors I owed to have come off, apart from one credit card which was included in my bankruptcy, It's got a status of 8 which means "The account is in ‘default’. You failed to keep to your credit agreement and have not responded satisfactorily to requests to bring your payments up to date, so the credit agreement has ended" according to experians help booklet. Anyone know if I can/or should get this removed? + How long does the bankrutcy entry remain on here, and is form the discharge date or start date??
Cheers

I was just asking about clearing up credit files! After discharge these should be marked as satisfied.matched betting: £879.63

Hello Guys!
Well, spent two hours hanging about in court today, and am now '663 of 2006'! What a relief!
It was all much simpler and less scary than I thought...went in, a cleark checked the forms (he was very nice, made a couple of jokes even!), and took the fee...we took our files to an usher who took them into the judge who stamped them...we didn't even have to see the judge!! Then back to the clerk who arranged for the OR to call us (we went in a private interview room), so we were left alone, waiting for the phone to ring...like Deal or No Deal, very odd!!! When the OR did call, it was just to confirm a couple of details and we'll hear in the post about our 'proper' OR interview, if required, soon. Creditors won't be informed for 6 - 8 weeks though...were told to send a copy of our Bankruptcy Order on Debtor's Petition (we got this from the court when it was all processed) to them if we wanted to let them know what was going on...guess I'll do that if any of contact me. Hmmm, Moorcroft have been sending me some nice letters - maybe I'll send them a copy first...
So, that was that...we're now 'bankrupts'...feels rather good in a strange wayEspecially as we just found out we'll be expecting our first child in August, good timing huh?!!!
If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask...I'm very happy to be able to offer the benefit of the experience.
A HUGE thanks to you all who put my mind to rest before we went ahead...you're life savers!
Toodle pip for now!
