well, wednesday is B Day... court time 1.30... and to say I'm a little nervous is an understatement

in fact, I am so panic-ed about everything and all the stuff br related and not that I need to do before then that I have spent a morning getting nothing done at all, can't even bring myself to finish the online br forms yet

so, a question.... I have just successfully and with extreme ease opened a CoOp Cashminder account, and received my card and account number etc inside a week (4 days I think!)

should I now, bearing in mind my brd, write requesting my Incapacity Benefit, DLA and Income Prorection Policy payments are made into that account or leave them with my Lloyds current account for now?

next IB payment due next tues (ie a week away), DLA not til mid Dec and ditto IPP.

as you can appreciate, I don't want any money unnecessarily getting caught up in that account.. am off to empty both my current accounts to max o/d tomorrow!

    thanks guys

Id change all payments to your new account.

You will be fine on Weds, its such an anti climax.. You feel the world is going to melt, when you walk out things are exactly the same, except you dont owe no one nothing !!

    You will be fine.

Change your payments now Doushka - it takes ages for benefit payments to change.
And the best of luck for Wednesday.

  • Well I've finally decided to go for it. As soon as I finish my temping assignment in three weeks time, I'm going to file for bankruptcy. It's the end of a long and frustrating journey but I'm happy that I've made the decision.

I'm really thankful that I realised I had a problem when I did or it could have been much worse. Now I can look forward to a future with liquid assets and maybe even a mortgage one day. But no loans or credit cards...no way!

And I get to go to the High Court! Lucky me!!

Thanks to those who have answered my questions on other threads.

Well done Louisa - if there is any advice we can give - don't hesitate to ask.
I went to the High Court too - it's not that bad.

  • I was made Bankrupt on 31st May this year and have just had a letter from the OR to say that he needs an update of my circumstances and will request an early discharge from the court. It may take a few weeks but basically I could be discharged in the New Year. I am obviously pleased about this but will that mean that I can then begin to repair my credit rating? I was not expecting to have an early discharge as I went BR owing £130k so feel really lucky.

I have not posted on this thread before but you all seem a friendly bunch.

That's EXCELLENT news Louise.:T :T Your cedit rating will still be iffy for the next six years, but you probably won't want credit now. Glad it will soon be over for you.
