Yes it is a basic account. I'm hoping it isn't frozen after br as all our benefits are now going in there and my wages (from p/t job.)0 -
I have just been reading the Guide to Bankruptcy (not a very relaxing read!) and it says the OR will "give notice of the br order to .....utility suppliers....etc".
Does this mean gas, electric, water and will they then want to stop me paying by DD?
(p.7, 5a)0 -
Well took my papers into the cab on friday, have filled them all out, and have to be at the court on wednesday the 11th november. What a relief this is.
Can anybody tell me the procedure I will have to go through at the court? so far all I have been told is to turn up with £475 and thats it.0 -

That was a quick appointment - do you mean 11th December?
Basically, in answer to your question - yes. You turn up, the clerk will check your paperwork and take your cash. You will then, normally, go in front of the judge who, provided everything is in order, will probably ask if you understand the procedure and then he/she will 'declare you bankrupt' - you are bankrupt from the exact moment he/she utters those words.
You may, then be sent to the official receiver, who will either interview you then and there, or make an appointment for a full interview at a later date.

Hasn't made any difference to me bl. Official Receiver did not even ask who my utility suppliers are. Possibly if debts to utility suppliers are included in your br, but I can't really see any other reason. There is a section that states that you should make other arrangements to pay suppliers if you are currently paying by DD.
I agree the 'Guide to Bankruptcy' is a pretty daunting publication - but I suppose it's there to deter people from bankruptcy rather than to 'promote' it.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser.
