Any opinions on the best Pre-paid card to get - I'm more than a bit fogged at the moment so many numbers and worries going round my head and I'm getting confused now.

Also, basic bank accounts, I know some people have successfully opened one before their br date and kept it, which banks have these been? Which accounts are quick or should I say to get opened and running without traipsing round town? My br date is wednesday week and I really don't want any income getting caught in my current accounts if I can help it

    Hi!

I have the Cashplus card, which I have had up and running for a couple of months now - I love it and it is brilliant!

I got the Co-op Cashminder. If you get it up and running and have your Benefits paid into it before br, the OR will not freeze that account. Move all your necessary items across from your present current account and then you are all sorted!

You can open the Co-op account by phone, which takes 5-10 days to authorise, then you have your benefits paid into it. You can withdraw cash at any Post Office. You can also pay money in at a Post Office, or pay cheques in by mail or at a Post Office. Also it is a Visa Electron - I have just paid for my shopping using it!! Their security is second-to-none.

I am well-pleased with both my Cashplus account and my Co-op Cashminder.

After the OR interview and the IPA has been set, how long does the OR have to know your income? Just as long as the IPA lasts? Or until you are discharged? Do they monitor any of your outgoings in that time?

The OR is involved for the 36 months of the IPA. You must inform the OR of any changes in your personal circumstances within those 36 months. Windfalls, etc, must be declared too. I dare say that if you come into some money and you don't tell the OR - if the OR finds out, then yes they will monitor your outgoings.

I am beginning to wonder what illegal activities you are up to???

I wish you, and Mike, all the very best - I certainly fund it the most demanding (so far) part of the whole process, but in saying that nothing really to worry about - OR is not trying to catch you out, although I would think they could soon spot b/s, just looking for an honest appraisal of your situation.

    Hello peeps.

I went to see an advisor about wether to go for IVA or Bankruptcy, he went through the pros and cons of both and due to my fluctuating weekly wage he suggested I go for Bankruptcy. Which he cant deal with.

I am off the the local county court tomorrow for more advice on what to do next.

Am I right in think that I only pay the £400+ for court fees etc and then nothing else as all the debts that can be wiped out will be wiped out.???

    TIA.

Hi mboro - I'm a little worried when you say 'advisor' - is this 'adviso' charging you for his services?

Have you spoken with CCCS or PAYPLAN?
