When applying for DLA
Comments

andyandflo, that may be the case but you have decided that you now want to claim DLA, however, you do not want any medical checks to be made!
If you believe you are entitled to DLA for your care or mobility needs then you have to allow them to assess you and for them to contact your GP and any health workers you have seen.
Yes, the time has come for me to accept that I need help in the form of extra benefits. What I did in the past is in the past. I believed at the time it was the best for me. Yes, I believe and know that I am entitled to the Care component of DLA and maybe HRM.
I have no objection to anybody assessing me but I was never offered the choice. I was turned down without it.
I don't see anybody anymore regarding my Mental Illness problem. I refused in 2004 to anything more to do with them despite them sending me appointment letters.
I will not tell my GP for the reasons I have mentioned earlier. I know what they will do with me and there is no way I am going back into that!
They did contact my GP who obviously could not do a report!0

They contacted your GP for a report and your GP wrote a report based on the information he/she had available. You knew from the form that they may contact your GP as it states it on the form.
It is your own doing that you were turned down as you will not attend appointments or seek help with your illness, and before you say anything it is you that has said that you are ill and that you believe you are eligible for DLA.
 You say
When you apply for any benefit where does 'your choice' come into it? You have to abide by their rules and allow them to do whatever they decide.I have no objection to anybody assessing me but I was never offered the choice. I was turned down without it.
However, whatever anyone tells you, you will twist it to suit whatever you want. You contradict yourself all the time.0

You're making no sense - to get DLA, you would have to have some sort of care or mobility need. whilst it's not up to your GP whether you qualify, they may have information about you that you may have never seen.
If you didn't have to see a doctor, then I'm sure there will be people out there claiming for imaginary illnesses - that will cost the country millions more than DLA already does.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Not really, nobody from DLA even suggested or offered to do a medical on me0

 Which I do have
whilst it's not up to your GP whether you qualify, they may have information about you that you may have never seen.
Not likely, I have recently received copies of all of my medical records from my GP. They wrote to DLA saying that they could not verify anything.
If you didn't have to see a doctor, then I'm sure there will be people out there claiming for imaginary illnesses - that will cost the country millions more than DLA already does.
So my illnesses are imaginary then! Just because I don't run to the GP for every little reason! I have choices too. I choose not to tell people about how I am feeling.
As I have said before, the key to a sucessful claim is a medical history. I think that that is not right. Why should I put my liberty on the line again?0

What liberty? What is so wrong about seeing a GP or other medical professional?Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

If I went to my GP and opened up, I would lose my liberty under the Mental Health Act.
 I would be sectioned!!
You're talking rubbish. Being sectioned is a last resort. And yes I do know what I'm talking about; having been there and done that.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

You are taking this issue round and round ... and round in circles just for the hell of it and trying to twist things.
Again and for the last time (in my case) you know it is your own doing that you have been turned down for DLA. It is something (if you choose to) that you can change, but you won't.;)0
