When applying for DLA

For DLA you have to have recent proof of disability and back up from a professional, otherwise it's just your say-so. It's how it works, whether you like it or not. If you're not willing to go through their proceedure then you will have to live without the financial help you think you need. Unfortunately it's as simple as that.0

The sooner they bring in compulsory testing with ATOS for all current and future claims for DLA & AA the better. At least that way everyone will be treated the same irrespective of what medical evidence there is or isn't.0

It's not me that thinks I am entitled to ESA & DLA. CAB and DIAL both suggested it.
CAB filled out the original ESA claim for me after I went there to ask about what help should I be getting. They then referred me to DIAL, who asked a lot of questions and suggested that I should be entitled to DLA. They filled the claim form out for me.
I failed both claims which has left me claiming JSA which is not right.0

andyandflo, you have had plenty of advice which you just won't take on board. You would probably receive DLA if you had seen your GP. If you don't want to see your GP why don't you change your GP ... see someone else! You blame your GP for their report because you were turned down for DLA.
You won't see your own doctor but you are prepared to see someone from ATOS - if they saw you and felt the same as your GP does what would you do then?!The sooner they bring in compulsory testing with ATOS for all current and future claims for DLA & AA the better. This is going to go on ... and on ... and on.........................;)0

It doesn't matter who else thinks it, it could be the bloody queen, DLA don't care unless she has a medical degree in something relating to your claim. End of.0

All I will say to end this is that the time should come sooner rather than later that ATOS should be soley responsible for medical assessment for DLA, AA & ESA. The running round for evidence from doctors etc to prove otherwise should not be allowed. Their decision is final then we will all have a fair chance with no inequalities dependant on the quality of other outside evidence.
Until that time comes I will wait or top myself first!0

I am involved with DLA on behalf of my son and don't know if he will get an ATOS medical when it kicks in 2012/3(?), but I don't think a medical is going to be straight forward, a lot of my son's problems need to be seen over a period of time to appreciate them.
Andyandflo, if you are worried about being take back 'in', I would take some time to investigate your rights, can they section you? Perhaps a change of GP may be needed.Payment a day challenge: £236.69
