According to today's paper we are being invaded by huge olive green Spanish gastropods  (big slugs to you and me). They can apparently smell food at 6 metres! and travel 50 metres in a night.... How did they get here I want to know. Have they got a passport or did they swim the channel and sneak in?Never pass a chance to say you care to those in your life as we are not promised a tomorrow0

I'm listening... not sure if that counts?
Mondays, who wants 'em? Especially grey ones. Offices too busy to return phone calls especially ones we want out of the way... even the computers let us down (fought mine this morning).
That's correct about offices on mondays. Fridays too, for that matter.Anyone got any gardening done? I haven't but I am determined to do some before the afternoon's through. It needs it.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

Invaded is the word. They are appearing from nowhere, today. I shall have to brave the rain, shortly, on sc patrol. They can apparently smell food at 6 metres! and travel 50 metres in a night.... Does that include slug pellets? Still at least the attraction of the pellets, flushes them out into party mode.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

I am stressed and shattered. This is why i wonder it is worth the effort of any dealings with regard to all things hmrc related. Why do they make it so b*y difficult to reclaim your property? Because my money is my property, not theirs. With interest and bells on. The irony is, they will tax me on it. If i ever receive it, that is. It's enough to make you throw in the towel. Maybe that's why they do it? Make it impossible and we are laughing. I am sure if all this is ever sorted, they will erect another barrier to be overcome.
In it for the long haul. Back to the age old problem that hmrc doesn't recognise my occupation, so even they can't understand you can't fit a square peg into a round hole. Monday definitely isn't the best day for making phone calls. I can't obtain p45's as the companies don't recognise my " employment " has ceased, and they cannot be back dated, in any case. The best i can hope for are letters stating i haven't worked for them for x, y and z. Their accountants have systems and refuse to be flexible. Other people have rung with the same problem as me, ( oh that makes me feel so much better, not,) and hmrc has erected these stupid fences, for some reason. We've just done our payrun, so you'll have to wait another month for the accountant, we can't do it now. And so on and so forth, it goes.......................................
If i weren't so desperate, i'd forget all about it. Is there any wonder i haven't started my mileage claims yet? Perhaps i should work through a few days a night, since there are 365 days in a diary? Or a year.
On the positive side, i have to wait until ha receive the plans for my kitchen, so that's not an out and out no, on the flooring situation. I have been granted a new bathroom handbasin, ( thankyou, oh humble master,) which i'm getting in two weeks time. Result. Maybe its the risk of the whole thing shattering? Who knows. I don't.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

I'm sitting here sated and happy. I've just had broad beans out of the garden for my tea. Can they tax you if you are earning under £8,105? Sorry if this is a stupid question... I know that's the Personal Allowance threshold, but they seem to have a different set of rules for you .In it for the long haul. That's a good idea, if you can stick at one or two a night. It will take less than a year, I think, due to time when you weren't working, and sometimes the worst part is starting a task. I daren't offer to help, maths not being my forte. I will however cheer you on and provide tea and biscuits if that helps? On the positive side, i have to wait until ha receive the plans for my kitchen, so that's not an out and out no, on the flooring situation. That was quick! The basin I mean. Do you think word has got round and you have become the proverbial hot potato - 'Quick, give him what he asks for or he'll be back!'
You would have thought flooring would have come with the kitchen due to new units etc. messing about with the original layout? Or is that too logical? Plus, how much is it going to cost them for that size of floor? Not enormous sums, but sadly smaller things are so often easier to cut back. Anyway, it's not concluded yet so we will all be hoping with you...
I didn't get any gardening done - rain descended - but I too will be out on sc patrol later, not that I can match your tally. Maybe these are the ones you threw away some weeks ago, coming back? Surely there is a finite number? Isn't there?Miggy

Sorry I've not been online this evening Ani, few things to sort out and have busted my ankle today at boot camp (see exercsie is dangerous) so best thing to do is rest it with it elevated...so naturally I've been making banana cake and generally doing anything except sitting down
