I don't suppose it helps to send a virtual umbrella? No... maybe not.

You could stand the orchids in the rain if that helps... they would probably like the soft water.

Seriously? Do orchids like rain? I can't even think straight today.

I'll blame you, if all my orchids die. Remarkably, they are all still alive and kicking.

It's soft water... most plants like it and orchids need humidity. At least moth orchids do, and they're the only ones I know anything about.

Just watch out for the scs.

On second thoughts, orchids should be treated like cactus, so i'll continue neglecting them for the most part. :)

    P. S. Just inserting a disclaimer in case you have some rare orchid that hates rain! I would certainly 'risk' mine out there for a while and bring it in at night: it cleans the leaves and feeds the plant to some extent. Just bring it in if it gets sunny as the leaves won't have built up a tolerance and could get marked.

Neglect seems to suit my plants. :D

But in what respect do you treat orchids like cactus? Depends on the cactus, surely. ;) Forest rather than desert, says she, showing off. :d

Yes, they grow from trees, but their leaves and stems store water, making them very durable and they can survive long dry periods, ( like cactus.) So you are better underwatering them, than overwatering them. And most especially, NEVER water from the roots, they need good air circulation at the roots.:p
