Probably a bit late to say this but most vegetable seeds can be sown in succession, i.e. a few now, a few more in a couple of weeks, some more in a month's time etc. Saves you space now and means they don't all mature at once - even if it does take away some of the excitement of the chase.Miggy

Cat litter not working then?
Sorry, bust couple of days. Cat litter seemed to work ok but I think it's solidified in the rain - toms coming in at nighttime for the moment as not got slug pellets yet (need to get 'pet safe' ones as can't rely on the cat not to eat them)
Fab news about the kitchen :T
bit of gardening here today and finished painting the garden furniture - well it got coat #2 which is all it's going to get as a) I nearly cried of boredom doing it b) I don't have enough paint for another complete coat and I'm not forking out another £18 on paint  (although granted, it was cheaper and more environmentally friendly than chucking the set and buying a new one)
Got a couple of days catching up to do on here so will be back when I've done thatFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Yes i know, thanks xBut not having anywhere to cultivate things is becoming a problem
I never expected the gardening to take off in the way it has
I need an allotment, a greenhouse or a garden shed, so i can be more organised.
Everything is growing great guns. My petunia's are, well, gorgeous, now. Far better than my neighbours, although i'm still envious of THAT colour. I don't have any this colour. However, the first ever hanging basket i made has three different pastel shades, and the second petunia basket is now well on its way, with double? petunia's ( i think.)
I'm well impressed, even if i say so myself. The other hanging baskets are taking more time, but are just starting to grow, ( i've forgotten what they were.) All my tubs are flourishing, although i can't remember what i planted, either, but they should be flowering soon. The lilies finally have flower buds
. They were one of the first to grow, and are now massive. I also have some asters, i think, about to flower. There's loads of other " stuff ", which won't be identified until it flowers :rotfl:Along with all the veg. Even the cucumbers are on their way.
Any future gardening would definitely need more storage and planning.
Oh, and i now have another pepper plant sprouting, which makes a total of 8 plants.I think these will have to be grown inside, on the windowsill, unfortunately. I definitely need somewhere covered to grow things
The bad news is, the throwing of seeds into the ground when tired / fed up, hasn't worked, as this makes them as easy target for sc's? All my sweet peas and sweet williams have magically disappeared, and i'm gutted, as i planted some unusual varieties of sweet peasThat serves me right. I won't do that again. The good news is the sweet peas i potted are thriving, but i'm reluctant to plant them into the ground :rotfl: Even when planted, sc's follow their growth up the wall, so to speak. Little buga's.
Yesterday afternoon was a bit of a wash out, although i did some gardening in the rain. Sunshine, one minute, rain the next. I should have taken the window of opportunity in the morning. Looks like more of the same, today? Still, will try and get some gardening done, today. It's been a while now.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

I didn't feel well, yesterday afternoon. Even though i made some food, i couldn't eat it. Maybe it was all too much, the previous day? How could you possibly work when you are like this? Thoughts HAVE turned to work again as i'm having to think about giving up my work in order to sort out various tax and benefit matters, and also the availabilty of work when this next sick note ends. However, it's quiet on the work front, i believe, at the moment, and if i were to return to work, i'm likely to have long spells with no work at all, given the time of year. I don't want to even think about work, because i know and accept i'm not fit for work. Why can't others accept this? I point blank refuse to return to work before i am fully recovered, this time.
I didn't have the self pampering yesterday. Maybe today? Along with some gardening? And getting things ready for the dro. It's still too much to set myself tasks i can't achieve. Take it as it comes.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

Hi Ani
Thanks for the offer of `talking` ..I should find out my `fate` at work this week so I may have `plenty` of time on my hands soon:eek:. I would like a nice part time job actually with minimal stress but my job-hunting is proving fruitless so far.
I have had an allotment (2 actually) in the recent past (2008-2011) so don`t hesitate to enquire...is there is an allotment association nearby?. It was my `bit of land` and I grew so much! I gave it up when I moved here due to the size of my garden here....it only cost £18 a year and it was `mine` for as long as I wanted it.
I got my plot by going in person one sunday and finding the main person and talking to them on site ( they are a friendly bunch). It made a big difference to me when I was recovering and gave me chance to `build something` that was mine if that makes sense and I was very proud of my allotment `garden`and saved me so much in grocery money too!
Lovely sunshine here this morning...hope its the same over the hills.

Oh noxx :grouphug:
My philosophy has always been there is a job for anyone who wants one, but sadly, you only have to take a look around you, to see the state of the job market, and look at those who have been all optimistic about obtaining a job, who are still out of work.I have had an allotment (2 actually) in the recent past (2008-2011) so don`t hesitate to enquire...is there is an allotment association nearby?. Slug pellets, unfortunately, don't seem to make any difference
To quote my own quote, slug pellets make no difference at all. In fact, they are an aphrodisiac?
To put it bluntly, i have just dispensed with 46, yes 46, party goers, on said area of sp's and sw's. Not even 2 foot square. Said area was cleared last night. I suspect they are coming from both my neighbours gardens, as it is the borders of my garden adjoining theirs. Neither of my neighbours do any gardening.
I'm feeling quite physically sick with it all, this morning. They are climbing up the walls of the house, even the front door, and the last few nights, i have had spiders in my bedroom. Now, i don't get freaked out by spiders, creepy crawlies, etc, BUT, it's not as if i'm not trying.
Why is the whole wildlife universe, partying at mine? I've seen that many types of spiders, i've even seen several ladybirds,( you don't see ladybirds unless they too, can party?) many species of birds, i've even got a robin here. Just eavesdropped on a conversation about a local issue. Although i support some of the organisations here, people just don't have the ability to think outside of the box, and look at the wider picture. What they think is a solution, would cause an even bigger problem for them, if they did but see it.
I think i shall write, and submit an application, since it's raining.
I also think i shall have my self pampering session.

Oh no.
A new contender for the title of 'Most ominous sentence by Ani'.
You really have to face this one Ani: 'I don't have any of that colour'... you realise you are gardening beyond the point of no return when you write something like that. This time last year you probably weren't in the slightest bit bothered what colour petunias grow in, were you? This year? 'I don't have any of that colour'. *Sigh* You realise it can take years to track down specific plants, and there are people who will take a note and not rest easy till they have The Colour? Not that I'd know anyone like that personally.
Mind you, Viburnum Bonantense Dawn was well worth the wait.
I ought not really to be on the computer - already late to visit Mum but just wanted to let you all know I am reading and appreciating - just haven't got time to reply properly to everyone so you can breathe a sigh of relief.
Catch up later.Miggy
