the suggestion of drinking water is a good one. its true that sometimes you can be thirsty but your body doesnt know how to tell you that so it says "im hungry!!" instead

try drinking water, or have a piece of fruit. itll fill you up and itll be one of your 5 fruit and veg a day!

other than that, try and take your mind off it! read, go online, play a game, go for a walk! anything!

Hello. I have just been reading this thread and even though it is a bit extreme I would recommend a look at a site, https://www.waisays.com. I discovered it by accident because I was always feeling bloated towards the end of the day, just like I was going to 'pop'. So I did a bit of googling and found this site. I tried some of the ideas for a couple of weeks and lost the half stone I was carrying around. I am only 5'3" and a small frame so it used to look more. Anyway I have maintained my ideal weight for the last 8 months now - I am 47 years old as well, and all I do to maintain it is to watch the ammount of protein I consume in my foods. Too much just piles on the extra pounds for me, it is all hidden in dairy, chocolate, beans/pulses, eggs, etc. Moderation is now my keyword. The site will not be for everyone but it makes really interesting reading with its take on commercialism in the food industry which I feel is what makes us all have a problem with weight issues.

  • Hello!

Just noticed this post and would love to join you all. I'm 11st 11 and would like to lose between 2 and 3 stone (asap!).

Don't want to give my money away to WW and RC, so going to attempt it on my own, by cutting out the choc and getting up off my lazy booty!

I've got a family type reunion in November, so expect that will motivate me quite a lot ! Hee hee. Dread the 'wow look at you, haven't you put on a lot of weight!' type comments lol.

Wish you all lots of luck and look forward to exchanging tips!

:hello: Evening all, nice to hear from you all. Welcome aboard djdymond and hokeyCokey.:T :T
I hope gilly 41 is having a great time! I bet she has no idea how her idea has bloomed with all of us:rotfl:
On the food front today I haven't done too bad:- loads of fruit as I am allways starving after I 've had my sleep, lots of iced water - cheers lightatendoftunnel, and have not snacked on anything I shouldn't have.:j
I am making my OH and I some spag bol tonight (no garlic bread:naughty:) I had beans on toast as soon as I woke up too instead of picking on the usual rubbish.:D (the only time I can eat after a sleep is the day after a night duty!)
Hazzie 123 I think tryhard is probably right, when I was at weightwatchers I could not believe how much I was eating and still loosing weight - the bulk of it all being fruit and veg, I also used to have a pan of soup on the go,
the basic soup was:- a chopped onion
    a tin of tomatoes
    2 carrots
    a chopped courgette
half a pint of vegetable stock
    seasoning to taste.
cook for 20 mins, for a smooth soup pour in to a blender and puree. For a chunky soup puree half and return to the pan. In reality I HATE courgettes and so I would throw in any and all vegetables, experiment with herbs and spices - no two soups were ever the same. As this has virtually no calories I used to fill up on it a lot especially when I had picky days. I hope this helps a little.

I`m starving today, well maybe not starving but I am in need of something to munch on.So far today I`ve had;1/2 bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes(usually have a full bowl) with semi skimmed milk for breaky, lunch was 2 eggs scrammbled and now I`m chomping on a ice pop.But I feel hungry now and fancy something nice, not even sure what nice is?

I do know I have 1/2 a packet of hob nobs in the kitchen cupboard because I can hear them shouting me,begging me to eat them, but I shall resist.

I think I shall make another cup of tea and see how I feel after that.

What do you lot do when you are feeling hungry but dont want to snack?

My tip (for what its worth!) is not to eat such high sugar/high glycaemic food. The CNCs will give you a massive rush, then make you starving again afterwards. If you can manage it with porridge (no sugar) or even just with fruit, then you wont be so hungry so soon. You will find your insulin levels will stabilise and you will stop wanting to snack.

I tried the Hoodia tablets from Holland and Barrett, and found them to be really good at stopping me from nibbling between meals, and I lost about half a stone, then when I went to buy some more, they said that they had been taken off sale, because they had to be regulated for some reason. So, where do I get some more from, I am wary of buying off the internet, just because you dont know for sure whats in them, whereas I trust Holland and Barrett.

Anyone know anywhere reputable that stocks them?

A friend of mine tried this to improve water intake - she would drink 1 glass of water before a cup of tea (while the kettle is boiling). I might see if I can do the same

Morning, weightwatchers too advocated 8 glasses of water a day.

I`m not feeling hungry at all today as I`m full of snots. *sympathy please* But have eaten so far 200g of low fat cottage cheese and 3 hob nobs(couldn`t resist) and as for dinner *sighs* I just dont fancy anything.Might see if I can shovel some poridge down me neck.

Good tip about drinking the water,I hardly drink anything, usual amount is about 2 pints of water a day, sometimes not even that much! That amount includes tea too. I must start drinking more.

I`m also gunna change my cereal from sugary stuff to poridge which is far more healthy and a lot cheaper too.
