just saw your note and have just taken out a policy for my 81 year old mother for a trip to the Canaries £27.49 which is excellent.
far better than all that "Help the Aged" & "Age Concern" con merchants who wanted ridiculous amounts of money..The old folk will assume these people will be the best and just shows you they are not!The Early bird may catch the worm ...but its the second mouse that gets all the cheese!0 -
glad it helped! hope your ma has a good trip!if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.0

Not sure whether it is best posted here or in the Travel section (please move if appropriate).
My husband and myself are wishing to travel to Australia shortly. My husband is 72 and I am 68. We have several existing ailments (including mild angina, diabetes, cholestrol & high blood pressure).
Several companies we have spoke to can give us insurance if we are willing to insure without the cover for above ailments but we are extremely keen to get a 'reasonably priced' policy that covers us for all of the above ailments.
Does anybody know of any companies that are likely to give people of our age decently priced policies that include cover on these ailments ?
Would appreciate any help or advice. Thanks in anticipation.0 -

Thanks Mikeyorks - have read and responded to all previous suggestions but with little success. Most companies are not interested in insuring us - though we did get one quote a year ago from Saga for £1,000.0

Try Bradford and Bingley, they do travel insurance for up to the age of 85 on a single trip.

I take it you have tried Insuresupermarket:
Travel Insurance For Over 65's
Competitive holiday insurance quotes for travellers aged 65 or over.

If you have medical conditions you need covering it may help to look at a company who offer a medical screening service, you will talk to a nurse who knows what they are talking about re medical conditions, wether or not its gonna cost you a lot I couldnt say but it may be an idea. I used to sell insurance for a company which didn't offer that kind of service, we used to reccomend a company called mediquote to offer insurance. I'm not 100% certain if they offer cover for those over 65 though, they are called Mediquote and the number is 01243 534400
Hope that might help0 -
I have several `pre-existing conditions` as the travel insurance people like to call it and after years of shopping around I`m afraid the conclusion is, if you want to be fully covered you have to pay the premium. The cheapest I have found and the one I have used for the last few years is https://www.medi-cover.co.uk This year I payed £125 for myself and my husband to go to Mexico. I was quoted £850 from another company. You can get an online quote from Medi-cover so I would give it a try. I know people with angina and high blood pressure etc who take out normal insurance without mentioning their ailments but I would never take the risk. I prefer to have peace of mind. Unfortunateky, peace of mind can be expensive!0
